Eight Area Teams in KVA Volleyball Rankings After Week Four

After four weeks of action eight area teams remain in the Kansas Volleyball Association rankings as we are into week five action. 

The top ranked area teams hail from the Twin Valley League and come in Class 1A-Division I and II as Centralia and Axtell each remain ranked second in their respective class. 

Centralia Panthers are 22-1 on the season and 9-1 in TVL play this season fresh off three wins on Tuesday night against Frankfort, Wetmore and Onaga and continue to remain ranked second in 1A-DI behind only Goessel. The Hanover Wildcats and Immaculata Raiders also remain ranked in the 1A-DI poll this week coming in at sixth and ninth, respectively. Hanover is 18-4 on the season after splitting with Valley Heights (loss) and Troy (win) on Tuesday and moved up one spot this week, while Immaculata remained at ninth with their 15-7 record and went 1-1 on Tuesday beating Pleasant Ridge, but falling to Maur Hill. 

For the Axtell Eagles they remain ranked second in 1A-DII and sit at 17-5 on the season and 9-1 in TVL play. The Eagles picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday night versus Linn and Clifton-Clyde. 

In Class 2A both Valley Falls and Washington County continue to be ranked and come in at fifth and sixth this week. The Dragons remained at fifth in the rankings with their 20-2 record this year and after wins over Jefferson County North and Horton on Tuesday are 10-0 in Northeast Kansas League play. Washington County Tigers fell two spots in the poll to sixth this week and are 13-3 on the year and 8-2 in TVL play. Tigers picked up wins over Blue Valley and Doniphan West on Tuesday night. 

The Nemaha Central remained unbeaten in Big Seven League action on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Sabetha to improve to 10-0 in League action and 17-4 overall. The Thunder this week however fell two spots in the Class 3A poll to eighth. 

In Class 4A-Division II the Holton Wildcats remain ranked but tumble in the polls falling six spots to tenth in the rankings this week. Holton is 17-10 on the season after a pair of Big Seven wins against Hiawatha on Tuesday night.
