Atchison Girls Take First & Pleasant Ridge Boys Second at Perry Lecompton Cross Country Invite

As the cross country season hits the final weeks of the regular season several area teams took to the course and compete at the Perry Lecompton Invitational on Thursday. 

The Atchison lady Red and Pleasant Ridge boys notched the top area team performances on the day as Atchison took first and Pleasant Ridge second. The lady Red posted 49 points, nine better than second place to earn the Perry Lecompton Invitational title using five Top 20 finishes to led them to the win. Pleasant Ridge and Holton also competed as teams finishing seventh and ninth out of nine teams in the girl’s competition. On the boys side Pleasant Ridge earned second place lead by three Top 20 finishers, while Atchison, Perry Lecompton, Jeff West and Holton all field teams also placing fifth, eighth, ninth and tenth out of ten teams. 

It was Sarah Jaloma of Atchison picking up the best individual performance of the day as she raced to a time of 21:04 to earn second place, helping lead Atchison to first place as a team. Emily Jaloma grabbed an eighth place finish behind a time of 21:37, while Lyndi Hanson, Hailey Macierowski and Haley Greibat also finished in the Top 20 for the lady Red placing 12th, 15th and 17th, respectively. The Atchison boys had a pair of Top 10 finishers as Simon Holly and Matthew Sowers posted times of 18:20 and 18:25 to finish eighth and ninth. 

For the Pleasant Ridge boys on their way to second place as a team it was Luke Oatney pacing the way with a time of 18:02 to place sixth, while Gabe Younger took 15th and Herken Reid placed 20th for the Rams. 

The host Perry Lecompton was led by a ninth place finish in the girls race as Lexia Jamison posted a time of 21:41, while Bjorn Funk finished 16th in the boys competition for the Kaws. 

 

Jeff West had one Top 20 finisher on the day as Makenzie Tucker earned a 13th place finish in the girl’s race at the Perry Lecompton Invitational.
