TVL Teams Highlight Centralia Cross Country Invitational

Several Twin Valley League schools and one school from the Northeast Kansas League along with a non-area school competed on Saturday in cross country action at the Centralia Invitational. 

The best performance from the area teams can from a Frankfort Wildcat runner as Broderic Shirely behind a time of 16:36.50 earning first place at the Centralia Invitational, helping Frankfort finish second as a boys team behind only Wabaunsee. Colton Parthemer and Brandon Anderson added Top 20 finishes for the Wildcats as Parthemer finished eighth (18:02.09) and Anderson placed 18th. 

The host of the race, Centralia Panthers had the best area girls performance on the day as Sadie Jones ran to a third place finish with a time of 21:37.62, while three other lady Panthers finished in the Top 11. Tamra Jones grabbed a fourth place finish with a time of 22:30.56, while Maegan Koch placed eighth behind a time of 23:39.31 and Madison Boeckman notched an 11th place finish. Dylan Boeckman in the boy’s race earned an ninth place finish for the Pathers after posting a time of 18:18.53.

Wetmore Cardinals boys took third as team at the Centralia Invitational led a pair of Top 20 finishers in Aaron Achten and Chanler Morfitt who placed seventh (17:47.25) and 15th, respectively. The lady Cardinals had a trio of Top 20 finishers with a seventh place finish from MaKayla Henry leading the charge as she posted a time of 23:15.03. Ryley Bailey and Myrna Crismas picked up finishes of 17th and 20th for the Cardinals. 

Second place in the boys race was earned by Adrian Pishney of Valley Heights as he posted a time of 16:42.97, while Alex Hardin finished 12th in the boys competition. Ilexus Rose led the lady Mustangs with a time of 23:47.75 to place ninth.

The Onaga Buffaloes had a trio of Top 20 finishes on the day with a third place showing by Michael Eisenbarth leading the way as he posted a time of 16:50. Jackson Glessner earned 19th place in the boy’s race, also for the Buffaloes, while Maggie Revell had another strong performance this year placing fifth with a time of 22:49.06. 

Four Top 20 performances in the girl’s competition helped the lady Tigers of Washington County earn second place as a team as Kyujung Lee, Emily Meyer, Rachael Wood and Kirsten Kingsbury placed 12th, 13th, 15th and 19th, respectively. Eric Miller had the best Tigers finish on the day as he posted a time of 17:45.75 to earn a sixth place finish, while Malachi L'ecuyer placed 17th. 

The duo of Burke Deters and Oliver Schmitz led the Axtell Eagles as Deters earned a fourth place finish with a time of 17:21.72 and Schmitz placed 14th. 

Abby Sikes earned the lone Top 20 finish for the Clifton-Clyde Eagles as she placed 14th on the day. 

Jefferson County North was the lone NEKL team competing at the Centralia Invitational and had three runners finish in the Top 20. With a time of 18:22.31, Evan Weishaar earned tenth place in the boy’s race, while in the girl’s race, Rose Wendling and Kayla Hutzell placed 16th and 18th for the Chargers.
