As the volleyball regular season starts to hit the final stride multiple area teams took to the court on Saturday at the Marysville Invite and the action proved to be highly competitive. 

A second place finish by the Sabetha Bluejays lead the performance of the area teams in action, as Concordia won the tournament crown. Hanover picked up a third place finish and Royal Valley took home fourth place. 

The tournament started off with pool play action and in the Red Pool Sabetha and Concordia each went 3-1 in action but the Bluejays took the top spot in the pool via the straight set head-to-head win over Concordia. Sabetha also earned wins over Riley County in three sets and Marysville in straight sets, but fell to Nemaha Central in straight sets. The host Marysville posted a 2-2 record in pool with wins over Nemaha Central and Riley County, while the Thunder and Riley County each finished 1-3 in pool play. The Thunder's lone win came against rival Sabetha in straight sets. 

The black poo featured a trio of Twin Valley League teams, Royal Valley and Republic County and it was Hanover going 4-0 in pool play to win the pool. The Wildcats used three sets to top Washington County and Republic County, while beating Royal Valley and Valley Heights each in straight sets. The loss to Hanover in pool play was the only pool play loss for the Panthers of Royal Valley as they finished second in the pool going 3-1, beat Valley Heights, Washington County and Republic County. Washington County finished the day with a 2-2 record, while Republic County went 1-3 and Valley Heights 0-4. 

In the Semifinals Sabetha took on Royal Valley winning in straight sets 25-23, 25-17, while Concordia beat Hanover in straight sets 25-16, 25-23. 

That set up rematch of Sabetha and Concordia from pool play and this time it was Concordia winning in straight set, 25-22, 25-13. Hanover picked up third place with a three set win over Royal Valley (25-21, 20-25, 25-20).
