Big Seven League All-League Football Honors Awarded

Big Seven football has put together a great showing in 2015 with five of the nine League teams qualifying for the playoffs in 4A-DII and 3A and two of those five teams are still alive in the postseason continuing their seasons. The League has announced their All-League honors for this season. 

The Nemaha Central Thunder claimed the Big Seven League title this year going 6-0 in Big Seven action, while finishing 10-1 overall, making it to the Regional round of the 3A playoffs. The Thunder put together a season to remember and several players earned All-League honors. On offense, junior, Ryan Hasenkamp was named first team quarterback, while senior, Kyle Rethman earned first team runningback, senior, Tristan Allen first team wide receiver and senior, Winston Meyer first team offensive line. Senior, Kurtis Niehues earned honorable mention honors at offensive line. On defense, Niehues was named first team at defensive line, while Meyer earned first team at defensive end/outside linebacker and Allen got the nod for first team at defensive back. Seniors, Dylan Steinlage, Neil Sudbeck, Dalton Hiltbrand and Paul Deters, along with junior, Chase Kramer all earned honorable mention honors at defensive back, inside linebacker, defensive line and defensive end/outside linebacker for both Deters and Kramer. 

Holton Wildcats season is still alive as they are in the 4A-DII Sectionals against Frontenac on Friday and sit at 7-3 on the season and finished 6-1 in the Big Seven this year. On the offensive side of the ball four Wildcats earned first team honors as senior, Mason Barta was named first team runningback, senior Austin Frakes first team tight end and seniors, Brandt Rose and Josh Bjelland first team offensive line. Seniors, Justin Rieschick and Kaden Brandt earned honorable mention honors on offense at quarterback and tight end, respectively. Five guys picked up first team All-League defensive honors for the Wildcats as Rose and Brandt each got the nod on the defensive line, Frakes at defensive end/outside linebacker, Barta at inside linebacker and Rieschick at defensive back. Senior, Will Wright picked up honorable mention honors at defensive back. 

The Royal Valley Panthers finished with the third best League record going 4-2 in Big Seven action and 6-3 overall. Three Panthers earned first team All-League offensive honors as seniors, Derrick Barger, Trent Terrel and Jarrett Roy picked up the honors at runningback, tight end and offensive line, respectively. Senior, Zack Lux earned honorable mention at the quarterback spot for the Panthers also. On defense Barger and Lux each earned first team All-League at inside linebacker and defensive back, while seniors, Nick Ehrhart and Roy along with junior, Jacob Box earned honorable mention defensive honors at defensive back, defensive line and defensive end/outside linebacker, respectively.

For the fourth straight year the Jeff West Tigers made the playoffs this year making in 4A-DII again and finished the season 5-4 overall and 4-3 in Big Seven action. Senior, Jared Ice is the only Tiger to earn first team All-League honors on offensive coming at offensive line, while senior, Kieshon Brown earned honorable mention at runningback and junior, Quentin Guerra picked up honorable mention honors at wide receiver. While on defense seniors, Michael Majors and Brown each got the first team nod coming at defensive line and defensive back. Seniors, Josh Massey and Keaton Young each picked up honorable mention honors at defensive line and defensive end/outside linebacker. Senior, Luke Herring was named first team All-League kicker for the Tigers. 

The season continues for the Sabetha Bluejays after a pair of big playoff wins, as they are now 7-4 on the season and will play at Wellsville on Friday in the 3A Sectionals. The Bluejays during the regular season posted a 4-4 mark in Big Seven action. A trio of Bluejays earned first team All-League offense honors as seniors, Brock Frey and Calder Keehn got the nod at runningback and tight end, while junior, Greg Remmers earned the honors at offensive line. Three more Bluejays were named first team All-League on defense as seniors, Kaid Allen, Caleb Strahm and Jonah Montgomery picked up the honors at defensive line, defensive end/outside linebacker and defensive back, respectively. The honors don't stop their for Sabetha as senior, Alec Kirwan earned first team punter and honorable mention kicker honors. 

Perry Lecompton Kaws notched a 3-3 mark in Big Seven action, while finishing 4-5 on the season. Senior's, Nathan Bays and Braden Johannning each were named first team All-League offense at wide receiver and offensive line, while junior, Cole Kellum picked up honorable mention honors at runningback for the Kaws. On defense senior, Mitchell Bond got the nod for first team honors at defensive back, while juniors, Nick Quinlan and Torin Van Nest got honorable mention at inside linebacker and defensive line. Senior, Landon Jamison also earned honorable mention honors on defense at defensive end/outside linebacker for the Kaws, while Bond also picked up honorable mention honors at punter. 

For the second time since consolidation the Riverside Cyclones earned a playoff spot in Class 3A and capped off their season with a 4-6 record and 2-5 in Big Seven action. Junior, Gage Olivero picked first team All-League honors at tight end for the Cyclones, while seniors, Bryer Miller and Dalton Resler earned honorable mention at runningback and offensive line and fellow senior, Grant Shue picked up honorable mention honors at wide receiver. Resler also was named first team All-League at defensive line, while Olivero earned first team inside linebacker. Senior, Leroy Watson picked up honorable mention honors at defensive back and senior, Seth Bembrick honorable mention honors at punter. 

The ACCHS Tigers finished the year 3-6 and 1-4 in Big Seven action and had one first team All-League player as junior, Hunter Ostertag picked up the honor at the runningback spot. Ostertag also earned honorable mention honors at defensive back along with fellow junior, Lane Bowen and junior, Chance Liggett picked up honorable mention at inside linebacker. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks finished the season 1-8 and 0-8 in Big Seven play and had one player earn honorable mention honors as junior, Joseph Kunkel earned the honors at defensive back.
