Former Hiawatha Red Hawk Leading Johnson County CC Volleyball to NJCAA National Tournament

Former Hiawatha Red Hawk, Elizabeth Chilcoat is exceling at the college level in volleyball as a sophomore she is helping lead the way for the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers as they won the Division II District M Championship and are in the NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship tournament. 

The Cavaliers enter the tournament as the three seed with a 32-6 record, having beat 11 ranked teams this season and all six of their losses coming to ranked teams. They start the National tournament Thursday, November 19th in Phoenix, Arizona at Phoenix College Gymnasium at 11:00 am versus Muskegon the 14 seed (25-15). 

Chilcoat this season has been at the forefront of the Cavaliers success as she leads the team in kills with 290 and in digs with 422, averaging 2.5 kills per set and 3.64 digs per set. She ranks second on the team in aces with 26 and has 45 blocks on the year. Her success has earned her Player of the Week honors in the KJCCC this year, along with second team All-KJCCC and first team All-Region VI DII District M. 

The Cavaliers are three wins away from a potential volleyball National Championship and get the postseason action underway Thursday. (To watch the matches - click here)
