For the 20th year the Twin Valley League high school basketball tournament took place during the season and it didn't disappoint with great matchups throughout the tournament and even plenty on the final day of action.

Girls 

Blue Valley vs. Troy      (Troy won 49-31) - Consolation Game

After starting the tournament with a tough loss the Troy Trojans responded with a pair of wins in the consolation games to go 2-1 in the tournament, beating Blue Valley on Saturday 49-31. The Trojans led just by three after the first quarter but 11-5 second and 13-5 third quarter helped Troy take control and earn the win. Makayla Ross led Troy with 14 points, while Kassi Meng chipped in 10 as the Trojans moved to 6-5 on the season. Blue Valley wrapped up the tournament 1-2 and moved to 3-8 on the season with the loss to Troy as they were led by seven points from Callie Webster and Courtney Anderson. 

Linn vs. Doniphan West       (Linn won 48-35) - Consolation Game 

Not a single gal scored double figures for Linn but 10 total girls finished with at least one-point the teams balanced helped them to the 48-35 win over Doniphan West and a 2-1 mark in the TVL tournament with a pair of wins in the consolation games. Up just three after the first quarter Linn used a 16-8 second quarter to lead 27-16 at halftime. Doniphan West tired to get back into the game posting a 10-4 third quarter but Linn closed the game out with a 17-9 fourth to earn the win, moving to 4-6 on the year. The Bulldogs were led by Liza van der Merwe who scored nine points, while Doniphan West had 15 points from Kirsten Huss but the Mustangs fell to 2-7 on the year and finished the TVL Tournament 0-3. 

Wetmore vs. Washington County      (Washington County won 51-42) - 7th place game 

Scoring was a struggle early as Washington County and Wetmore combined for 12 points in the first quarter with the Tigers up 9-3, but the offense opened up for the Tigers in the second quarter as the posted a 22-11 frame and used that cushion to push to the 51-42 win. Tess Cecrle paced the Tigers with 13 points, while Mandi Allerheiligen added 10 points as Washington County took seventh place in the TVL Tournament going 1-2 and moved to 9-3 overall this season. Wetmore with the loss is just 3-9 on the year and finished 1-3 in the Tournament as Dakota McQueen posted 19 points to lead the Cardinals in the loss against Washington County, while Gerae Haverkamp scored 10 points. 

Clifton-Clyde vs. Valley Heights       (Valley Heights won 55-36) - 5th place game 

The dynamic scoring of the Valley Heights Mustangs duo of Brandi Jo Roepke and Kayla Smith proved to be too much for Clifton-Clyde was the Mustangs picked up a fifth place finish in the TVL Tournament with a 55-36 win. Valley Heights led 27-18 at the half and Clifton-Clyde hung around for a bit but 34 points from Roepke and 18 from Smith pushed the Mustangs to the win. Valley Heights moved to 8-4 on the season and finished the Tournament 3-1, while Clifton-Clyde posted a 2-2 record in the Tournament to move to 5-8 on the season. Maycee Callihan led the Eagles with 11 points, while Elizabeth Nobert chipped in nine points. 

Frankfort vs. Axtell         (Axtell won 65-36) - 3rd place game 

For the second straight year the Axtell Eagles flew home from the TVL Tournament with a third place finish this time in routing fashion with a 65-36 win over Frankfort. The Eagles led 11-6 after the first quarter and went on a scoring binge in the second frame with a 23-point quarter to lead 34-18 at the half and would outscore Frankfort 31-18 in the second half to secure the win. Courtney Heinen and Kiersten Talbot led Axtell with 16 an 15 points, respectively, while Taylor Feldkamp posted 11 points as Axtell finished the TVL Tournament 2-1 and moved to 11-3 on the year. Frankfort with the loss fell to 5-8 on the season and finished 2-2 in the Tournament, while Emilee Ebert led the Wildats with 20 points, including 9-11 from the free throw line. 

Hanover vs. Centralia       (Centralia won 55-48) - Championship 

For the 11th time in 20 years the Centralia lady Panthers earned the TVL Tournament championship this time beating Hanover, claiming the win 55-48. After a slow start for both teams Katie Glatczak opened things up for the Panthers hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter and Centralia led 17-8 after one and took a nine-point lead into halftime. The lead was cut to three by the end of the third quarter and down to three multiple times in the second half but Centralia held off Hanover to secure their 10th win of the season, moving to 10-1 on the year, while going 3-0 in the Tournament. Katie Glatczak posted her third straight 17 point game to lead Centralia and with her four first half three's helped Centralia build their early lead and she earned Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Cassidy Haufler added 12 points, while both Chelsea Huerter and Mayda Stallbaumer each scored 10 points. Hanover with the loss falls to 9-3 on the season and went 3-1 in te Tournament as 12 points by Riley Doeble led the Wildcats in the Championship game, while Ashton Jueneman chipped in 10 points. 

Boys

Wetmore vs. Clifton-Clyde      (Clifton-Clyde won 61-42) - Consolation Game

Spear headed by 10 three-pointers in the contest Clifton-Clyde won the battle of the birds in the consolation games at the TVL Tournament topping Wetmore 61-42. The Eagles were up 31-22 at the half and behind 10 guys scoring lead by Zach Sorrell's 17 points grabbed the win. Sorrell connected on five of the teams 10 three-pointers in the contest, while Matt Barnes hit three and finished with 13 points in the game as Clifton-Clyde improved to 2-10 on the season, going 1-2 in the Tournament. Wetmore also finished 1-2 in the Tournament and sits at 2-10 overall on the season after the loss to Clifton-Clyde. Newt Smith with 12 points led Wetmore in the loss, while Noah Klingler and Dakota McKinney each posted 10 points. 

Onaga vs. Blue Valley       (Onaga won 60-48) - Consolation Game 

Onaga posted its best offensive production of the season in the win over Blue Valley in the TVL consolation game getting out to a solid start and ultimately grabbing the win 60-48. The Buffaloes lead 34-26 at the half but only by four entering the fourth quarter and registered a 14-6 fourth to secure the win. Tanner Marten led Onaga with 17 points, while James Johnson added 13 points and the Buffaloes moved to 4-7 on the season and went 2-1 at the Tournament. Blue Valley posted a 1-2 record at the Tournament and with the loss is 3-8 on the year, as Hadyn Budenbender led the Rams with 16 points and Chase Carey scored 10 points. 

Frankfort vs. Axtell       (Axtell won 64-56) - 7th place game

A hot start to the game had Axtell flying out of the gates leading 21-12 at the end of the first and 40-26 at the half, but Frankfort posted a 14-8 third quarter and chipped at the lead to make things interesting down the stretch but the Eagles held to earn the 64-56 win. A new season high from Kaleb Buessing led Axtell as he tallied 25 points in the win, while Brice Koch added 11 points and Colton Buessing posted 10 points as Axtell took seventh place in the TVL Tournament going 2-2 in action and moving to 8-7 overall. Frankfort wrapped up the Tournament going 1-3, falling to 3-10 on the season but did have a quartet of guys in double figures in the loss to Axtell as 15 points from Jedd Rose led the Wildcats. Adam Kenworthy and Mitchell Olson each contributed 12 points and Brenden Levi scored 10 points. 

Hanover vs. Doniphan West      (Hanover won 67-60) - 5th place game 

It was a rematch of the 1A-DI State title game last year and it didn't disappoint as Hanover got past Doniphan West for fifth place in the TVL Tournament with a 67-60 win. The game feature 21 three-pointers combined, six guys in double figures and both teams trading blows back and forth throughout the contest. Big shot after big shot was hit in the first half and Doniphan West went into halftime up 27-25, but Hanover in the second half posted quarters of 20 and 22 points to push ahead and snag the win. Trey Loshe was lights out for the Wildcats with 26 points hitting seven three-pointers, while Michael Jueneman notched 18 points and Will Bruna scored 13 points, as Hanover moved to 9-3 on the year and finished 3-1 in the Tournament. Doniphan West with the loss is 8-2 and finished 2-2 in the Tournament and were led by Austin Taylor and Cooper Leach who scored 21 and 20 points, respectively each hitting four three-pointers, while Levi Watts hit four three's also and posted 12 points. 

Centralia vs. Washington County     (Washington County won 43-39) - 3rd place game 

It was close throughout the ballgame as it was tied 5-5 after one quarter and 17-17 at the half but ultimately the difference in the game was a 12-5 third quarter by Washington County as they used that to earn the 43-39 win. Centralia made it interesting down the stretch with some big three-pointers from Braden Deters keeping them in the ballgame but despite 29 points and seven three's from Deters it was not enough for Centralia. The Panthers fell to 8-3 on the season with the loss and finished the Tournament 1-2 taking fourth place, while Washington County took third moving to 11-1 and went 2-1 in the Tournament. Kyle McGatlin with 18 points led the Tigers, while Cole Thompson scored 11 points and Konnor Penning chipped in 10 points. 

Valley Heights vs. Troy       (Troy won 67-63) - Championship

Troy jumped on Valley Heights early with a 7-0 run in the first 35 seconds of the game after winning the tip Cuttar Huss scored a bucket with an and one and that was followed by layups on back-to-back Valley Heights turnovers. The Trojans worked the lead up to 20-9 in the quarter and led 22-15 after the first frame things continued rolling Troy's way with a 16-8 second quarter to put them up 38-23 at intermission as Huss scored 14 points in the second quarter and had 19 in the first half. The third quarter proved to be a stalemate with each team scoring 15 points, but Valley Heights started picking up some momentum late in the third and caught fire in the fourth posting a 25-14 fourth quarter to make it interesting down the stretch. Bryan Yungeberg hit a pair of big three's in the fourth and Anthony Edwards scored 11 points in the quarter for Valley Heights, but the steady free throw shooting of Reid Greaser helped the Trojans earn the 67-63 win and claim the TVL Tournament title.

Huss led Troy with 27 points on the night, while Greaser finished with 13 points and was 8-8 from the free throw line, both performances earned the guys co-Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Troy with the win is 11-1 on the season and posted a perfect 4-0 record in the tourney, while Valley Heights who started the Tournament as the seven seed with only three wins finished second and is 6-6 on the year, after a 3-1 run in the tourney. Edwards led the Mustangs with 23 points, while Logan Woodyard posted 13 points and Yungeberg scored 12 points.
