Several top senior area athletes had an opportunity to compete against other top seniors from across Kansas at the annual NCK All-Star games at Cloud County Community College in Concordia over the weekend and many showed out in strong fashion in the contests.

In the boys basketball contest it was a trio of area athletes that helped guide the Black team to a 116-102 win over the Gold team. The Black team held a 51-46 lead at halftime, after Gold had led 22-20 after the first quarter. The lead grew in the third quarter and helped push the Black team to the win. Helping led the Black team was Sabetha Bluejay, Calder Keehn who won defensive MVP in the contest and posted 20 points, 20 rebounds, six assists and two blocks. While his fellow Bluejay Brock Frey contributed 11 points and six rebounds for the Black team, Washington County Tiger, Kyle McGatlin tallied 13 points and Nemaha Central Thunder, Luke Holthaus scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds.

Centralia Panther, Braden Deters and Doniphan West Mustang, Cooper Leach suited up for the Gold team in the All-Star game and posted 12 and four points, respectively in the contest.

The girl's basketball All-Star game went the way of the Gold team as they claimed the 63-55. The Gold team led only 25-19 at halftime and only by two-points going into the fourth quarter, but a 26-20 fourth pushed them past the Black team for the win. Six area girls were selected to play in the game and all were on the Black team but only four played in the contest. Rachael Baumgartner of Nemaha Central led the Black team in the loss with a game-high 16 points and snagged 10 rebounds, while Courtney Heinen of Axtell scored six points and Paige Doebele of Hanover added five points.
