Jeff West Competes at Wamego Track Invitational

Jeff West Tigers continued their track season on Thursday stepping out of the area and competing with three non-area teams at the Wamego Invitational. 

At the end of the competition the Tiger girls and boys finished third out of the four teams in the team standings with the host Wamego taking first in the girls and boys competition.

The Tigers did finish the day with 23 Top four finishes between the girls and boys competitions at the Wamego Invitational. Seven first place finishes led those performances with Luke Herring snaring three of them. Herring sprinted to a time of 24.07 to win the 200 meter dash, while leaping to marks of 19'00.50 and 38'06 to win the long jump and triple jump. 

David Sayles earned first in the pole vault (9'00), while William Jernberg ran to first place in the 400 meter dash (55.99), while also taking third in the 200 meter dash and Trey Markham won the 300 meter hurdles behind a time of 45.63, while taking second in the 110 meter hurdles. In the girls competition Destiny Wright took first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08.37, while also taking second in the long jump and third in the 200 meter dash. 

Several other Tigers had strong performances on the day as Hunter Williams took second in the boys shot put and fourth in the javelin, while Tyler Casto finished third in the 800 meter run and the Tiger boys finished second in the 4x800 meter relay. 

For the lady Tigers Brooke Dillenbeck leapt to a second place finish in the triple jump and fourth in the 200 meter dash, while Sarah Sayles took third in the 3200 meter run and fourth in the 1600 meter run. Skylar Bair tossed her way to a second place in the discus and third place in the shot put and Taylor Giltner earned second in the 400 meter run. 

The Tigers track team is back in action Friday, April 29th at the Topeka-Seaman Relays to continue their track season.
