Sabetha Legion Baseball Splits Games Over Weekend to Start Season

The legion baseball season got under way for one area team as Sabetha hit the field in a pair of non-league contests. 

Post 126 started the season on Saturday against the EMN Nationals and struggled in the contest to the tune of only two hits, while EMN scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings and partnered those with six in the second and five in the fifth. That scoring pushed the EMN Nationals to the 14-0 win in five innings over Sabetha. 

Sabetha responded on Sunday to get their first win of the season as Post 126 only registered four hits but put together with four walks produced six runs to claim a 6-2 win over Wymore. Post 126 scored early plating three in the first and led 3-2 going into the sixth. Looking to secure the win Sabetha added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. While Sabetha earned the win they did struggle with 19 strikeouts but Matt Burdick led the offense with two hits and three RBI's. 

Dustin Gruber earned the win pitching five innings allowing two runs, while striking out five and Kyle Grimm pitched the final two innings for the save. 

The split over the weekend gives the Sabetha Raptors legion team a 1-1 start to the year. Post 126 hits the field next against Fairbury, NE on Sunday, May 29th on the road.
