Sabetha traveled to Silver Lake on Thursday night for a Northeast Kansas League twin bill and when the night finished both teams picked up a League win with the double header split, each team claimed a 10-7 win on the night.

Game one saw Sabetha snag the early lead but ultimately had to battle back into the game to secure the 10-7 win. An RBI single by Brandon Brownlee got Sabetha on the board in the first inning and it looked like they perhaps would score multiple runs but Silver Lake got a double play and fly ball out to get out of the inning just down 1-0. In the bottom of the first Silver Lake chased Sabetha starter Kyle Grimm out of the game just six batters in as all six guys reached safely and scored on four walks, a two RBI hit by Garret Huske and an error. Joe Gruber came in on the mound and extinguished the fire for Sabetha but after one Silver Lake was in the drive seat up 6-1. Sabetha pushed back into the contest scoring three in the second with clutch two-out hits from Riley Hermann and Brownlee who registered a two-run triple and RBI double, respectively in the inning. It became a one-run game in the fourth as Sabetha posted another run to make it 6-5 and then in the fifth inning on four hits and a walk Sabetha took the lead. Once again it was timely two-out hitting as Hermann delivered a two RBI single, Brownlee had his second RBI double of the game and Preston Bruning registered a RBI single giving Sabetha a 9-6 lead. Up 10-6 going into the bottom of the seventh Sabetha gave up three hits to Silver Lake and a run, but ultimately finished the game to earn the 10-7 win.

The 14-hit attack for Sabetha was paced by the top of the order as Hermann finished 3-4 with a triple, walk, four RBI and three runs scored to earn McDonald's "Player of the Game," while Brownlee went 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI's. Bruning, Dustin Gruber and Matt Burdick all had a two hit game for Sabetha, while Joe Gruber tossed seven innings of relief giving up one run on six hits, a hit batter and struck out 10 for the win. Silver Lake in the loss was led by Huske who went 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while taking the loss on the mound.

A pair of walks, error and hit got Silver Lake the early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game two and they would not give up the lead this time earning the double header split against Sabetha. Sabetha got on the board in the second inning with a run but Silver Lake answered with a four-run second on three hits, two walks and an error to lead 7-1 after two. Huske delivered a two-run homer in the second, while Alex Whitehead had a two RBI double in the inning. Sabetha pushed back to make the game interesting scoring two in the fourth and on six hits and two errors scored four more in the fifth, but Silver Lake also scored three in the fourth and shut down Sabetha in the final two innings to secure the 10-7 win.

Another 2-4 game at the plate by Huske led Silver Lake as he had a two-run homer, three RBI's and two runs scored, while Tyler Koelzer finished 2-3 with two RBI's and a run scored and Whitehead was 1-2 with two RBI's, two runs scored and two walks. Reid Walker earned the win on the mound for Silver Lake. Sabetha in the loss registered 12 hits with five guys having a multi-hit game as Bruning, Brett Stallbaumer, Seth Burdick, Grimm and Dustin Gruber each having two hits.

The split on the night moved Sabetha to 16-11 on the season and 7-5 in the League, while Silver Lake is now 9-9 on the year and 6-6 in League action. Both teams continue their season on Sunday in League play as Silver Lake travels to Doniphan County, while Sabetha hits the road for contests against Leavenworth.
