For the third straight year and eighth time the Doniphan County legion baseball team is headed to the AA State tournament. 

It's been a strong season for Doniphan County notching a 29-2 record on their way back to the AA State tournament after winning the Zone title in Sabetha last week. After a first round bye Doniphan took down Silver Lake 11-1 in four innings in the Semifinals and in the Zone Championship game picked up a 15-3 win over Marysville in four innings. 

A balanced offense from top to bottom with 10 of the 11 guys with 25 or more at bats registering an above .300 average on the season including five guys hitting .420 or better has led to Doniphan County pouring in the runs and wins. On the season Doniphan County has outscored their opponents 297-77. The pitching has been strong on the year also as the team carries a 2.39 ERA. 

Looking to make a deep run at State Doniphan County starts State on Wednesday, July 27th as the third game of the day in Fort Scott at Dave Regan field at LaRoche Baseball Complex playing at 6:00pm against a 14-8 Russell team who is at State for the first time since 2004. The other first round games have Iola vs. Goodland 1:00pm, Marysville vs. Larned 3:30pm and Colby vs. Fort Scott 8:30pm. 

With a win on Wednesday, Doniphan County would play at 8:00pm on Thursday, July 28th against the winner of Colby and Fort Scott. While a loss would put Doniphan County in elimination game at noon on Thursday against the loser of Colby and Fort Scott. The games will be played at Dave Regan field in Fort Scott (4805 Campbell Drive)
