It was the first road test of the season for the Troy Trojans and they proved to be up to the task fending off a tough Centralia Panthers on Friday night claiming a 33-16 win.

After a three-and-out by the defense Troy took over and continued their offensive outpouring of points this season with a strong drive cumulating in a three-yard touchdown run by Kortin Blevins to make it 6-0 Trojans with 5:57 left in the first quarter. The turnover issues this season continue for Centralia on the next Panther drive fumbling the ball on their own 35-yard line and Troy recovered. Three plays later Reid Greaser hit Tyler Franken for a 35-yard touchdown past and it was 12-0. The lead grew to 15-0 with 5:53 left in the first half with a 30-yard field goal by Alex Martinez for Troy.

Centralia dealing with an injury early in the game had to switch some things up but behind the running of Bryson Johnson and Nathan Rempe mounted a drive right before halftime. With under 30 seconds left in the half the Panthers looked to air it out to cover more ground and got the benefit of a pass inference call that set them up with a first and goal and two plays later as time expired in the first half Johnson punched it in from two-yards out and with the two-point conversion it was 15-8 at halftime.

Troy snagged the first points of the second half as Greaser hit Brody Winder on a 10-yard touchdown pass on a first and goal play after the Trojans got first and goal off of a Centralia pass inference call on a fourth down and five play. Both teams traded fumbles in the second half but the Panthers stalled a long drive that was in Trojan territory. With 5:27 remaining Troy hit the big play on Centralia as Greaser connected with Winder for a 70-yard catch and run touchdown making it 27-8, but Centralia didn't go away scoring on a 35-yard touchdown run from Isaac Gore just a little over two minutes later putting it at 27-16 with 3:18 remaining.

After recovering the onside kick Troy capped the scoring on the night with a six-yard touchdown run from Greaser to ultimately finish off the game for the Trojan 33-16 win.

The Trojans in the win were balanced offensively with Greaser going 11-18 for 179 yards with three touchdowns, while rushing for another. Winder was the favorite target on the night by Reid has Brody caught six passes for 122 yards and two scores to earn Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA.

Centralia in the loss ran for roughly 200 yards as a team with Johnson notching 62 yards on 19 carries, while the sophomore Isaac Gore gave the Panthers a spark in the second half with 11 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.

The win moves Troy to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in Twin Valley League play, while Centralia fell to 0-3 to start the year and 0-1 in TVL play.
