It was apparent that Head Coach Jim Smith had his Redmen focused as AHS put up 27 in the first quarter and overwhelmed Schlagle High School 40-12 Friday night.

Homecoming week can leave coaches worried about their team come gamenight, but with 8 seniors in the starting lineup, Atchison knew the importance of playing well against a league opponent.  Quarterback Adam Smith led his offense as he ran for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns and threw for 3 more going 6/12 for 154 yards.  AHS leading rusher on the night was Dylon Leblue with 14 carries and 115 yards.

Austin Bonnell paced the AHS defense with 11 tackles.

The Redmen improve to 3-0 on the season and Schlagle suffers its first loss and is 2-1.

Up next for Atchison will be a road trip to Wyandotte and another conference match-up Friday night.
