Centralia Volleyball Remains Unbeaten With Wins Over Axtell & Blue Valley; Axtell Splits On Night

League play kept the volleyball season rolling on Tuesday night and Centralia played host to Axtell and Blue Valley for Twin Valley League action. 

At the end of the night Centralia snagged two more wins beating Blue Valley 25-13, 25-7, while finishing the night with a straight set win over Axtell 25-16, 25-19. Axtell grabbed the win in the other matchup of the night beating Blue Valley in straight sets 25-10, 25-19. 

The night started with the host Centralia Panthers hitting the court against Blue Valley the Panthers jumped on the Rams early taking an 8-3 advantage on a Cassidy Haufler ace and that led to a Blue Valley timeout. Out of the timeout Centralia continued to extend the lead as Sadi Boyce set up the offense for the Panthers. Blue Valley managed a late 4-0 run to make it 20-13 but Centralia finished the first set with a 5-0 run to win 25-13 as a Madison Lueger kill posted the 24th point for Centralia, while Haufler nailed an ace to finish the set. Blue Valley took the first point of set two but Centralia responded with six-straight and led 6-1 leading to an early Rams timeout. Centralia like in set one pushed the lead out and finished the match in straight sets winning set two 25-7. Megan Plummer along with Tessa Henry made several plays for the Rams in the loss. 

Second matchup of the night featured Axtell and Blue Valley and the Eagles flew out to an early lead in set one leading 11-4 when the Rams called a timeout to corral the troops after an Anna Buessing kill for Axtell. The lead continued to grow in the first set as Trisha Matthewson set up her teammates throughout the set with Maddy Kuckelman, Buessing and Montana Heinen all making plays upfront. Set two saw Blue Valley take early control leading 3-0 and holding the lead early in the set until the Eagles tied it at 10. Patrica Heiman then delivered an ace and the Eagles took their first lead of set two at 11-10. After giving the lead back shortly the Eagles again snagged it back with Anna Porting serving and never gave the lead back winning set two 25-19 to claim the match win. 

Looking for a 2-0 night Centralia and Axtell finished the evening off in the nightcap and the Panthers grabbed the straight set win. It was tight early in set one with teams trading tallies on the scoreboard but the Panthers pounced with several plays upfront with kills and blocks from Maegan Koch and pushed out to a 14-7 lead leading to an Axtell timeout. The Eagles were never able to recover from the early deficit despite fending off set point three times, Centralia took the first set 25-16. Set two saw each team trade plays back and forth with multiple gals making plays as the lead changed hands back and forth until Centralia took firm control up 19-15 and held Axtell at bay down the stretch to win the set 25-19 and take the match. 

The 2-0 night moved Centralia to 19-0 on the season and 7-0 in TVL play, while Axtell moved to 11-4 on the year and 6-2 in the TVL. Blue Valley fell to 6-8 on the season and 4-5 in TVL action. Blue Valley and Axtell both hit the court again on Saturday, September 24th at the Wakefield Invitational for the Rams and the Eagles host their own tournament, while Centralia won't be in action again until next Tuesday, September 27th as the Panthers host Wetmore and Onaga in League action.
