Highland Football Breaks Into National Rankings

Off to one of the best starts in school history the Highland Community College Scotties football team is now getting national attention after a 4-1 start. The latest release of the NJCAA national football rankings have the Scotties breaking into the polls at #20. 

The ranking is the first time in 25 years that the Scotties have broken into the NJCAA national polls and comes as they enter their bye week this week. Highland opened the season taking down #8 Dodge City 26-16 earning a big win against a team that is still ranked in the Top 10 (#10) in the latest polls. Scotties added another win over a ranked opponent when they beat then #13 Hutchinson 26-21 last Saturday in the fifth game of the year. Scotties also own wins over Graceland University JV and Iowa Central CC, while their lone loss to the team currently ranked #5 in the country in Garden City. The Scotties only loss the game to Garden City by six points on the road in the second game of the season. 

Up next after the bye week this week is a date with Butler CC on the road in El Dorado with a 7:00pm kick on Saturday, October 8th. 

Highland Volleyball Earns 12th Win of Season

The lady Scotties volleyball team continues to put together a strong season improving to 12-5 on the season on Monday night with a four set win on the road against Labette CC. 

After falling in a hard fought set one 27-29, Highland responded to take over the contest and win the next three sets for the match win. Scotties snagged set two 25-17, took set three 25-13 and finished they night winning a close set four 26-24. 

The win pushes the lady Scotties to 12-5 on the season and 3-2 in KJCCC play and extends their current win streak to three straight matches. Highland is back home on Wednesday, September 28th to face Fort Scott CC at 5:30pm in KJCCC play.
