Kansas High School Football Rankings - Seven Area Teams in Rankings After Week 4

Four weeks into the high school football season and the amount of area teams garnering attention in the polls across the State is increasing after some strong starts to the year and big wins. 

Two area teams continue to lead the way with #1 rankings again this week and in all the polls. One of those teams is the Troy Trojans who are 4-0 on the season after going on the road to pick up a hard fought 25-22 win over Perry Lecompton last Friday. The Trojans conitnue to hold down the #1 spot in the Class 2-1A rankings while several other area teams are jumping into the rankings with them in 2-1A. 

Washington County Tigers have been in the rankings the last couple weeks and are ranked #5 in the Topeka-Capital Journal, Kansasprepfootball.com and CatchitKansas polls this week after a 3-1 start to the season falling to a ranked 3A school in Hoisington last week 47-6. The Jackson Heights Cobras continue to dominate through four weeks beating Maur Hill 59-27 last week and moving to 4-0 and are ranked #5 by VarsityKansas (Wichita Eagle) this week and #4 by the Topeka-Capital Journal in Class 2-1A. Valley Heights Mustangs are off to a 3-1 start after a 41-26 win over Ellis in week four and check in ranked #9 in the Top 10 in 2-1A by CatchitKansas. Another 2-1A area team with a strong start has been the Jefferson County North Chargers who are 4-0 after a 54-6 rout of Oskaloosa last week; the Chargers are getting attention as others considered in several polls. 

Hanover Wildcats are the other area team at #1 as they remain in the top spot in 8-Man Division II polls across the State after a 3-0 start to the season. Wildcats beat Linn 48-0 last week and have yet to allow a point all year. 

The 8-Man Division I rankings are now seeing an area team jump into the polls as the Clifton-Clyde Eagles have flown to a 4-0 start on the year and are ranked #5 by VarsityKansas (Wichtia Eagle) this week. Eagles beat Rural Vista 74-72 last week in double overtime in come from behind fashion. 

Class 4A-Division I polls continue to feature Atchison in the rankings coming in at #3 in the VarsityKansas (Wichita Eagle) poll, #4 in the Kansasprepfootball.com poll and #5 in the CatchitKansas rankings. Atchison is 4-0 on the year after a 52-12 rout of KC Wyandotte last Friday. While in 4A-Division II the 1-3 Holton Wildcats are getting some attention after picking up their first win of the season 41-7 over Riverside. 

The Class 3A rankings continue to have a pair of area teams in Nemaha Central and Sabetha just on the cusp of breaking into the rankings. Both teams are 4-0 after the Thunder rolled past Jeff West 56-0 last week and Sabetha cruised past Royal Valley 48-0.
