Entering Tuesday's slate of Big Seven League volleyball action it was a log jam at the top of the League standings for the race for the League title and it remained that way. Five teams come out of the night with two or three League losses and another with four. Two of those teams are Nemaha Central and Jeff West who squared off on Tuesday night in Meriden and the Thunder sounded to the tune of a pair of wins.

To start the night Nemaha Central earned a tough three set win 26-24, 21-25, 25-16 over Jeff West. The first two sets were see-saw affairs as both teams traded leads back and forth. Set one saw Jeff West go up 10-8, only to see Nemaha respond with three-straight and gain the 11-10 lead. The Thunder extended the lead to 16-12 the largest of the first set but Jeff sprung back with a 4-0 run to tie the set at 16-16. Teams traded points down the stretch and it was tied 24-24 but Nemaha then tallied two-straight to snag the first set 26-24 as Sara Kuckelman and Jacy Dalinghaus combined for a block on the set point. Set two saw early 3-0 runs by both teams and both teams work to leads of two-points until the Tigers took the lead back at 19-18 and then surged ahead going up 21-19 and 24-20 as the Thunder used a timeout at each point. Alexandria Cozadd finished the set with a kill to give Jeff West the set 25-21. The third and deciding set saw Jeff West go up 5-2 early on a 3-0 run but Nemaha Central took the lead and at 11-8 started to push that lead out to one of the widest margins all night and the Tigers were unable to recover as Nemaha Central took the set 25-16.

The second match of the night was tight also but Nemaha Central earned the road sweep with a straight set win 25-23, 25-21 over Jeff West. Set one started strong for Nemaha Central with a Jacy Dalinghaus ace, Kaley Dalinghaus kill falling out of bounds and an Allison Rottinghaus ace all leading to a 7-1 Thunder lead and a Jeff West timeout. That lead didn't hold up and Jeff West had a late surge rattling off six-straight points to get within one-point at 22-21, but the Thunder held them off and won the set 25-23. Set two was tied at 1-1 when Jeff West had an early 3-0 run and the Tigers held a lead until midway through the set it was tied at 17-17. Nemaha Central then took their first lead of set two at 18-17 only to see the Tigers answer with another 3-0 run leading to the Nemaha timeout. Out of the Thunder timeout the Thunder busted off a 3-0 run and took the 21-20 lead and ultimately won the set 25-21.

On the night both Jacy and Kaley Dalinghaus were key players for the Thunder making several plays, while Mariah Murdie provided great presence upfront for Jeff West with several kills and blocks, along with Kaileigh Wright.

The win moves Nemaha Central to 14-5 on the season and 6-2 in the Big Seven League, while Jeff West fell to 10-8 on the season and 4-4 in the League. Both teams continue their League portion of the season on Thursday night as Jeff West travels to Royal Valley and Nemaha Central hosts Riverside.
