The action has been highly competitive between all the area teams in high school volleyball with action in full swing and still plenty up for grabs in League races and tournaments left in the season. KSHSAA has released the 2016 volleyball Sub-State assignments. 

Ten total Sub-State will feature at least one area team between Class 4A-Division I to 1A-Division II. 

Class 4A-Division I as the lone area team in Atchison hosting KC Piper, Tonganoxie and Basehor-Linwood. While Holton will host the lone area 4A-DII Sub-State with Jeff West joining them, along with Rock Creek and Bishop Ward. 

Two Sub-States in Class 3A will feature area teams with most of the area teams at the Sabetha Sub-State as the Bluejays will host Marysville, Nemaha Central, ACCHS, Maur Hill, Horton, Hiawatha and Riverside. Wellsville will host Pleasant Ridge, Royal Valley, Perry Lecompton and Oskaloosa from the area, while also having Central Heights and West Franklin in action. 

Class 2A has three Sub-State involving area teams as Valley Falls hosts a Sub-State involving nine teams with themselves, Jefferson County North, Troy, Jackson Heights, McLouth, Bishop Seabury, KC Christian, Maranatha and Heritage Christian. Washington County is set to travel to Republic County and Valley Heights will travel to Wabaunsee for Sub-State. 

Class 1A-DI will have two area teams hosting Sub-State action with Frankfort and Hanover each hosting a site. Frankfort will host Immaculata, Centralia, Doniphan West, Onaga and Wakefield. Hanvoer will play host to Linn, St. John's/Tipton, Clifton-Clyde, Rock Hills and Pike Valley. 

The lone 1A-DII Sub-State for area teams will be hosted by Blue Valley-Randolph and involve the Rams along with Axtell, St. Xavier, Southern Cloud and Wetmore.
