Week 7 KVA Volleyball Rankings - click here

The volleyball regular season is done and the postseason looms with Sub-State action on Saturday as area teams eye an opportunity to make the State tournament. Six area teams have spent most of the season if not all of the year in the Kansas Volleyball Association rankings and those six teams remain in the latest KVA polls headed into the postseason.

The Centralia Panthers have had a winning pedigree for quite some time the Panthers are putting together one of their best seasons perhaps in school history as they finished the regular season 37-0 winning the Twin Valley League tournament crown this past weekend, to go along with their regular season TVL title. The #1 spot in Class 1A-Division I rankings has belonged to Centralia most of the season and they continue to hold that spot headed into the postseason. Fellow TVL team in the Hanover Wildcats finished second to Centralia in the TVL tournament and regular season and sit at 31-7 on the season coming in ranked #5 again this week. The Immaculata Raiders have been ranked for a good portion of the season and wrapped up the regular season with a pair of Northeast Kansas League wins over Horton and Jackson Heights on Tuesday to sit at 24-10 and take third in the NEKL. Raiders barely stay in the 1A-DI rankings this week falling two spots to #10 in the polls.

Class 1A-Division II continues to house the Axtell Eagles in the Top 10 but the Eagles fell two spots in the poll this week to #8 in the polls. The Eagles finished the regular season 19-15 and notched a sixth place finish the TVL.

The NEKL duo of Jefferson County North and Valley Falls continue to be ranked in Class 2A coming in at #6 and #8 again this week, respectively. The Chargers capped the regular season beating McLouth and Pleasant Ridge on Tuesday and finished second in the NEKL standings as they are 32-6 overall on the year. Valley Falls won the NEKL title after two wins against Maur Hill and Oskaloosa on Tuesday to move to 29-7 overall on the season.

The postseason sets up to be ultra-competitive as several area teams have strong opportunities to make the State tournament. Ten Sub-State's from Class 4A-Division I down to 1A-Division II will feature at least one area team on Saturday.
