Big Seven League Volleyball Honors Awarded

The competition in the Big Seven League proved to be solid all season on the volleyball court and for the second straight year the Nemaha Central Thunder finished atop the League standings claiming the Big Seven title. Now that the season is in the rear view mirror the postseason All-League honors have been handed out. 

Nemaha Central posted a 14-2 League record to take the Big Seven League title and finished the season 32-11 making the Class 3A State tournament this year. A trio of lady Thunder players earned first team Big Seven honors as senior, Kaley Dalinghaus, junior, Laura Macke and sophomore, Jacy Dalinghaus all earned the honors for Nemaha Central. 

Holton Wildcats finished second in the Big Seven with a 13-3 League record and 23-14 overall mark on the season. Senior, Lauren Leavendusky and junior, Shay Tanking each picked up first team All-League honors, while senior, Sydney Prine snagged honorable mention honors. 

The Jeff West Tigers were back at State this year in Class 4A-DII and finished the season 23-17, while taking third in the League with an 11-5 League record. Tiger senior, Kaileigh Wright and junior, Mariah Murdie each picked up first team All-League honors, while senior, KayCee Mundhenke grabbed honorable mention honors. 

Perry Lecompton finished fourth in the Big Seven League going 10-6 in League play and finished 22-16 overall and had a trio of gals earn All-League honors. Seniors, Ronna Erickson and Abbi Folks each picked up first team All-League honors, while sophomore, Talisa Stone was named honorable mention. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks placed fifth in the Big Seven with a 9-7 League record and posted an 18-17 overall mark on the year. Senior, Lexi Schwalm and junior, Cariann Kunkel each got the nod for first team All-League honors for the Red Hawks. 

Royal Valley one player earn first team All-League honors as sophomore, Mary Broxterman picked up the honors after the Panthers finished the year 9-26 overall and 6-10 in the League finishing sixth in the standings. 

Sabetha Bluejays posted a 10-26 record on the year and 6-10 in the League tying Royal Valley for sixth place in the Big Seven. Senior, Lauren Huber earned first team All-League for the Bluejays, while senior, Grace Kuenzi was named honorable mention. 

ACCHS Tigers who finished 3-13 in the League and 8-24 overall on the season had sophomore, Katie Beien pick up first team All-League honors, while senior, Savanna Cohorst snag honorable mention honors. 

Riverside Cyclone senior, Kaitlyn Schmille was tabbed honorable mention All-League. The Cyclones finished 2-31 on the year and 0-17 in the Big Seven League.
