Sabetha Wrestling Competes at Riley County Falcon Duals

The Sabetha Bluejays after opening the wrestling season earlier in the week hit the mats on Saturday for their first tournament action of the year at the Riley County Falcon Duals. 

The Bluejays started the day strong winning their first bout of the day topping the host Riley County 41-30 in their dual, but Sabetha finished the day going just 1-4 in their five duals and took fifth place out of six teams. 

Leading the way on the mats for Sabetha at the Riley County duals was a 5-0 day on the mats at the heavyweight division as Elloit Strahm (285lbs) picked up five wins all via pinfall and all under one minutes. Strahm won four of his five matches in 27 seconds or less (:27, :27, :19 and :12) with the other coming in 52 seconds. 

Both Cauy Rokey and Seth Harrell who are back with plenty of experience on the mats for the Bluejays posted 3-1 records on the mats on Saturday. Rokey at 182lbs registered a pair of pinfall wins in 3:17 and 1:08, while also winning via a 14-9 decision, while Harrell at 126lbs notched a technical fall 15-0 win, 7-0 decision victory and pinfall win in 1:18. 

Matt Meyer and Payton Strahm each snagged two wins on the day going 2-3 and 2-2 in action overall at the Riley County Duals. Meyer (152lbs) recorded a pinfall win in 21 seconds and a 10-5 decision victory, while Strahm (195lbs) notched his wins by an 11-5 decision and pinfall in 45 seconds. 

Both Walker Lowdermilk (145lbs) and Kamden Brownlee (160lbs) each finished the day with one win on the mat for Sabetha as they both picked up their wins by pin. Lowdermilk won in 48 seconds and Brownlee in 1:08. 

Sabetha continues their season on the mats when they host a double dual with Auburn (NE) and Rock Port (MO) on Thursday at 5:30pm.
