ACCHS Wrestlers Compete at Eudora Tournament

The ACCHS Tigers took to the mats over the weekend competing at the Eudora wrestling tournament with 20 other schools represented also in competition. 

Eight Tiger grapplers were in action at the Eudora Tournament and Hunter Ostertag led the way at 138lbs by going 7-0 to take first place. Ostertag in his first four matches of the day earned pinfall victories each time winning in 1:03, 1:15, :16 and :28 putting him into the bracket portion of the tournament were he won by pin in 5:44 in the Quarterfinals, then earned a 12-2 major decision win in the Semifinals. In the Championship bout it was a close match with a wrestler from Tonganoxie but Ostertag edged him for a 5-4 decision and first place at 138lbs. 

A 5-2 performance on the mats led Austin Hager to a third place finish 106lbs as he won via pinfall three times of the day in 1:58, :48 and 3:08 while also registering 4-1 and 5-2 decision victories. Dylan Brikinsha put together a 4-3 day on the mats taking fourth place at 160lbs with three wins by pin in 1:10, 1:53 and 1:39 and also a 12-2 major decision victory. 

Sixth place finish was earned by Karl Scholz who posted a 3-4 record at 126lbs with his three wins coming by pinfal twice (1:31 and 1:44) and a 7-5 decision. Ryan Hanshaw also notched a 3-4 record at the Eudora Tournament in action and took eighth place at 220lbs snagging three pinfall wins in :23, 1:27 and 1:56. Makaea Forbes took ninth place at 195lbs picking up one win on the day, while Ivan Smith (152lbs) and Colton Scholz (120lbs) also competed on the day. 

The Tigers head into the break done with competition before the holidays and will hit the mats again after the calendar turns to 2017 when they compete at the Rossville Invitational on Saturday, January 7th.
