Both teams started very slow, in fact, Hiawatha was trailing 3-0 after five minutes of basketball.  Yet, the Lady Hawks took a 6-5 advantage after one quarter and following a couple lead changes, led 15-13 at halftime.  Leading 22-19 late in the third quarter, the Redhawks went on a 10-0 run to expand the lead to double-digits and never looked back. Coupled with an 8-0 spurt to begin the fourth quarter, Hiawatha put the game away and foced 20 turnovers on the night while improving to 3-0 on the season.

Cariann Kunkel earned Citizens State Bank and Trust Company "Player to Bank On" honors with 20 points, 13 of which came in the second half.  Courtney Brockoff added 10 and Kendra Overdick chipped in 8.  Perry got 15 points from Lexia Jamison before falling to 1-3 on the season.

Hiawatha pitched a 15-0 shutout in the opening quarter and they would need it to hold on for the win after being outscored in the final three frames.  Perry settled for 13 shots behind the arc in the first half and didn't make any as they trailed 22-8 at intermission.  Canaan Daniels hit a pair of treys in the third period, but Perry could never get any closer than eight points until a long bomb went in to beat the final buzzer of the game.  Hiawatha made 20 of 31 free throws on the night, with 11 makes in the fourth quarter to maintain a comfortable lead.

Joseph Kunkel made six foul shots late and finished with 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter while Alec Elffner was the "Player to Bank On" with a strong 10 point game that also included 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.  Tom Nolte added five of his seven points in the fourth frame, including a trey to boost the lead in the final minutes.  Hiawatha overcame 15 turnovers and improved to 2-1 on the season.  Daniels had 16 points, including four treys in the second half for Perry, while Toby Baker added 10 and Cameron Christman and Jordan Spreer delivered 7 and 6 respectively before the Kaws fell to 2-2 on the season.
