After plenty of tournament action during the first weekend of 2017 the high school wrestling season is back rolling and the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released a new set of rankings which includes 10 area wrestlers in Class 4A or 3-2-1A and one area team.
Marysville Bulldogs continue to have a dominate season on the mats this season winning the Beatrice Invitational last week and come in ranked #3 as a team in the Class 3-2-1A Top 10 teams rankings. Five individual Bulldog grapplers are ranked led by senior, Jacob Mintzmyer who continues to hold down the #1 spot at 170lbs. Senior, Jacob Stryker comes in ranked #4 at 182lbs, while freshman, Storm Slupianek is ranked #5 at 152lbs and both senior, Caleb Vogelsberg (220lbs) and freshman, Joey Bockin (113lbs) each rank #6 in their respective weight class.
ACCHS Tiger, Hunter Ostertag who has had strong finishes at State in his career continues to have a strong senior season and ranks #1 at 138lbs in 3-2-1A and most recently took first place at the Rossville Invite.
Royal Valley Panther senior, Jacob Box continues his strong year and checks in at #4 at 195lbs in Class 3-2-1A, while Sabetha Bluejay junior, Seth Harrell ranks #5 at 126lbs this week. Also ranked in the 3-2-1A rankings is Pleasant Ridge senior, Nick Stiver who comes in ranked #6 at 285lbs.
The Class 4A KWCA rankings continues to house only one area wrestler as Holton Wildcat senior, Tyler Price continues to be ranked coming in at #2 in the latest polls at 170lbs.
