Several Area Wrestlers in Action at Annual Sadowski Tournament Hosted by Holton

Holton hosted their annual Sadowski wrestling tournament on Saturday with 20 teams in action including eight from the area. 

While Andover Central took the team title on the day the highest area team performance came from the Sabetha Bluejays who finished fifth place. The host of the tournament Holton was the only other area team in the Top 10 finishing ninth. Royal Valley placed 12th as a team, while Perry Lecompton took 14th and Doniphan West, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Oskaloosa finished 16th, 17th and 18th as teams, respectively. 

Leading the way for the Sabetha Bluejays was Seth Harrell who wrestled his way to a 4-0 day and first place at 126lbs. Harrell recorded a pinfall win in 50 seconds, along with three major decision wins by scores of 10-0, 11-3 and 14-1. Both Cauy Rokey (182lbs) and Elliot Strahm (285lbs) each earned second place finishes as Rokey won a pair of matches by pin (2:20 and 3:13) and also recorded a 1-0 decision win, while Strahm recorded all three of his wins by pin in :33, :40 and 1:26. A trio of Bluejays placed fifth on the day as Brandon Brownlee (145lbs), Kamden Brownlee (152lbs) and Brendan Rokey (195lbs) posted 3-2, 3-2 and 2-2 records on the mats. Tanner Ukele (170lbs) added a sixth place finish to the day for the Bluejays after going 3-3 on the mats. 

A 4-0 day on his home mats earned Kyler Tannahill first place at 285lbs and lead the host Holton Wildcats performances on the day. Tannahill win three times by pin in 22 seconds and also 2:09 and 3:34, while getting his other win by forfeit. Third place finishes were garnered by Tyler Price (170lbs) and Taygen Fletcher (113lbs) as both wrestlers recorded 3-1 days on the mats. Cael Jackson finished fourth at 145lbs after going 3-2, while Kolby Roush went 2-2 to take fifth at 120lbs and Lawson Henry placed sixth at 132lbs with a 2-3 record on the day. 

Two second place finishes led Royal Valley in Holton on Saturday as Jacob Box (195lbs) and Blake Garrison (220lbs) each took the silver. Box had a 2-1 day with and 9-6 decision win and a pinfall win in 49 seconds, while Garrison also went 2-1 with a pinfall win in 37 seconds and a 6-1 decision victory. Dalton Ware added a sixth place finish for the Panthers at 120lbs going 1-3 in action. 

A fourth place and sixth place finish by Braden Woodson (106lbs) and Torin Van Nest (152lbs), respectively led Perry Lecompton on the mats at the Sadowksi Tournament. Woodson registered a 2-2 day on the mats, while Van Nest went 2-3. 

Zeb Speer wrestled to a third place finish at 160lbs for the Doniphan West Mustangs going 3-1 in action, while Houston Idol took fifth on the day behind a 3-2 at 106lbs.

Fourth place finish by Conner Wilson at 152lbs led the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens wrestlers at the tournament as he posted a 3-2 record in action. 

Oskaloosa was led by Jared Miller who took third place at 182lbs after going 4-1 in action in Holton on Saturday.
