Big Seven League Announces All-League Volleyball Honors

Volleyball awards for All-League players in the Big Seven league have been handed out for the 2012 season.

Leading the way with the most All-League players was the team with the best overall record in the Big Seven, the Jefferson West Tigers finished 32-7 on the season and tied Santa Fe Trail for the league crown this season. For the Tigers three seniors lead the way earning first team All-League honors for their performances this season. Molly Hothan (who will play volleyball in college at Pittsburg State), Hayley Johnson and Josie Liby all showcased their talent for the Tigers this season as seniors to the first team honors.

Santa Fe Trail finished tied for the Big Seven League regular season title with the Tigers of Jeff West and like the Tigers the Chargers landed three players on the first team All-League Big Seven squad. Juniors, Shelby Dahl and Jaeden Romine plus senior, Morgan Jolly for the Chargers earned first team All-League status. While for the Wildcats senior duo, Keri Tanking and Hanah Suarez earned the first team All-League honors. Sabetha Bluejays placed two players on the first team All-League squad, also as seniors, Ashley Schmelzle and Leah Colgrove earned the honors. Nemaha Valley, Royal Valley, Hiawatha and Perry Lecompton each had one player register first team All-League honors.

Senior, Ashley Rottinghaus (Nemaha Valley), senior, Mara Winter (Royal Valley), junior, Elizabeth Chilcoat (Hiawatha) and senior, Kelsey Kasson (Perry-Lecompton) all earned first team honors.

Honorable mention All-League honors were given out to six more players: Kaylee Bontrager (Senior, Nemaha Valley); Olivia Brees (Soph., Jefferson West); Halsten Coyle (Junior, Perry-Lecompton); Kara Decker (Senior, Holton); Lindsay Peterson (Senior, Nemaha Valley); Brianna Schmitz (Junior, Hiawatha).
