Onaga Boys End Season With Tough Loss In First Round of 1A-DI State Tournament

Back at the State tournament for the first time in 27 years the Onaga Buffaloes entered the State tournament drawing the eight seed and a show down with the one seed but looking for the first round upset. The one seed South Gray proved to have to much offense for the Buffaloes ending Onaga's season with a 73-46 loss. 

South Gray jumped on Onaga early leading 11-5 in the first quarter and by the end of the first led 22-13 that lead would remain at double figures most of the rest of the game with South Gray continually hitting shots despite Onaga's best effort with buckets of their own. By halftime South Gray led 34-20 and closed out the game with a 20-14 fourth to seal the win. South Gray was hot from the floor shooting 61.2% in the contest and 7-14 from three-point range, while outscoring Onaga 40-28 in the paint as Onaga fell 73-46 in the first round showdown. 

Onaga in the loss shot 36% for the contest and was led by Ben Kufahl who scored 23 points on 7-13 shooting while going 6-6 from the free throw line. 

The loss ened Onaga's year at 17-6 as they capped off a strong season with a hard fought contest in the first round of the 1A-DI State tournament.
