(KLZA)-- The Nebraska High School, Girls and Boys All-Sate Basketball teams have been selected by the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star for the recently completed 2016-17 season. 

Selected All-State First Team were Falls City Sacred Heart seniors Haylee Heits and Jade Hill in both papers with Heits named the D2 Girls Honorary Captain in the World Herald. The duo led the Irish to the D2 state title earlier this month. 

Other area honoree’s included for the girls were Friend junior Reeleigh Menke in D1 and Madison Jurgens, a senior at Diller-Odell. Jurgens was first team All-State in the Omaha paper and second team All-State in the Lincoln paper. 

In Class B, Taylor Cockerill of Waverly was a second-team All-State selection in the Lincoln paper.  Cockerill played her first three years at Sterling.  

For the boys, in Class D1, Hayden Miller, a senior at Lourdes Central Catholic in Nebraska City was first-team All-State in both papers. Miller’s teammate, Quinten Vasa, a junior was a second-team selection. 

In C2, Wes Dreamer, a sophomore at Elmwood-Murdock was an All-State selection.  

Earning honorable mention All-State honors were.
Boys – Class C-1 - Skyler Hopper and Baily Darnell from Auburn. Kyle Leafty and Brandt Chapple for Falls City.

C2 – Grant Nanninga and Logan Bredermeier of HTRS;  Zach Rust of Elmwood-Murdock. Tyler Adams and Blake Kastanek of Freeman.

D1- Ty Hahn, Trey Stutheit and Jaxson Balm from Johnson-Brock.
Thomas Ragland, Brock Hogeland, Brandon Frederichs and Ben Miller from Lourdes Central Catholic.  Andrew Davis, Nathan Jacobs and Kellen Habegger from Pawnee City and Dylan Benson and Micah Erickson from Sterling. 

D2 – Drew Bippes, Theo Rohrer and Noah Keller of Sacred Heart. Logan Anderson from Lewiston. 
Girls Honorable Mention All State:
Class C1 -  Auburn -  Ashley Teten.
Falls City – Alyssa Frederick, Molly Brown and Meredith Poppe.

Class C2 – Lauren Parde and Abby Mason of Freeman.
Emily Zvolanek and Mariah Murphy of Southern.

C2 – Olivia Farwell and Mariah Willey of Pawnee City. 
Fallon Stutheit, Kaitlynn Simon and Jayse Koehler of Johnson-Brock.
Laura Box, Libby Fulton, Ivye Meyer and Elaina Madison of Lourdes Central Catholic and Carly Wenzl of Sterling. 

D2 – Alexis Barnes and Sara Wertenberger from Sacred Heart.
