Sabetha Girls & Boys Take First at Perry Lecompton Big Seven Track Quad

While the rainfall postponed or cancelled several events it didn't stop Big Seven League track action at Perry Lecompton as the Kaws hosted Sabetha, Riverside and ACCHS for a League Quad on Tuesday. 

The Sabetha Bluejays flew high on the day as both the girls and boys took first place as teams in the League Quad competition. Bluejay boys posted 114.5 points to win by 10 points over Perry Lecompton who took second, while Riverside and ACCHS finished third and fourth. In the girls competition Sabetha notched 138.5 points, winning the team crown easily as Perry Lecompton took second, ACCHS third and Riverside fourth. 

Eight first place finishes led the Sabetha girls, while the boys were led by 10 first place finishes. On the way to first place as a team the lady Bluejays had three wins on the track as Kinley Schuette raced to first place in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 19.05 and 54.06, while the 4x100 meter relay team took first with a time of 54.94. The other five first place finishes for the lady Bluejays came in the field events with Mariah Russell leading the way leaping to the gold in the long jump (13'10) and triple jump (29'11). Megan Meyer posted a height of the 4'10 on the high jump to take first, while Grace Kuenzi won the javelin on a toss of 92'01 and Gracie Saner won the pole vault with a vault of 7'00.

For the Sabetha boys a trio of guys earned a pair of gold medals at the League Quad at Perry Lecompton as Mason Engelken, Keegan Cox and Eric Renyer each won two events. Engelken posted times of 16.17 and 42.94 to win the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, while Cox won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs behind times of 5:04.62 and 11:00. Renyer tossed his way to gold in the discus and shot put with throws of 121'08 and 44'10.5, respectively. The Bluejay boy’s 4x80 meter relay team also posted a first place finish with a time of 8:58.02. Braeden Cox, Kyle Grimm and Christian Meyer each won a field event as Cox won the high jump (6'00), Grimm took gold in the javelin (154'04) and Meyer won the pole vault (11'06). 

The host Perry Lecompton had the girls and boys each finish second as a team, while the lady Kaws earned seven first place finishes in events and the boys had four first place showings. On the track Cali Coleman sprinted to wins in the girls 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.33 and 27.56, while Lexia Jamison won the 800 meter run behind a time of 2:41.78. The lady Kaws 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams also earned gold after posting winning times of 4:32 and 10:48.91. In the field events Harleigh Robertson and Sammie Worthington each tossed their way to first in the discus (102'03) and shot put (27'11.5), respectively. Perry boys had their 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay team’s post times of 44.86 and 3:00 to claim first place, while Ty Packard won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.56 and in the field events Colton Mallonee won the triple jump with a leap of 38'02.5.

Riverside was led by Tre'nez Wilkinson who continued to rack up first place finishes to start the track season as he won all four individual events he competed in again taking gold in
the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 11.36, 23.26 and 51.91 and also won the long jump behind a leap of 19'03. In the girls action Lindsey Whitten earned a first place finish winning the 400 meter dash with a time 1:04.37. 

ACCHS was led Victoria Caplinger who won the girls distance runs of 1600 and 3200 meters posting times of 6:07.03 and 13:49.
