Nemaha Central Girls & Boys Win Home Track Invite Leading Area Performances

Nemaha Central Track Invite Full Results (4-11-17) - Girls & Boys

As the track season continued Nemaha Central played host to several area schools most from the Twin Valley League as some top flight track competitors from different Classes competed against each other in Seneca on Tuesday in the meet. 

The Thunder girls and boys each posted plenty of points to claim the top team spots on the day as the Thunder boys scored 167 points and the girls 150. In the boys side of competition Pawnee City with 94 points took second place, while Centralia finished third and Valley Heights took fourth. Wetmore, Axtell, Onaga and Troy rounded out the boys teams finishes coming in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth. On the girls side Valley Heights posted 108 points to take second followed by Centralia who had 95 total points taking third. Pawnee City girls finished fourth, while Axtell took fifth, Troy sixth, Onaga seventh and Wetmore eighth. 

Eight first place finishes led Nemaha Central on the day helping the boys and girls to first place team finishes. In the boys action Zach Buessing swept the hurdles posting times of 15.78 and 42.14 to earn the gold in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. While also on the track for the Nemaha Central boys Jacob Koelzer, Luke Haverkamp and the 4x100 meter relay team all won an event. Koelzer and Haverkamp sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, respectively with times of 11.08 and 23.87, while the 4x100 relay posted a time of 44.37 to take first. Dalton Schmelzle also won an event with a leap of 5'10 take first place in the high jump. In the girls competition, Kaley Dalinghaus won the shot put with a toss of 40'00, while the 4x100 meter relay team with a time of 53.23 took first for the lady Thunder. 

Valley Heights Mustangs continue to put forth strong performances in track action this year from the girls and boys side. Kayla Smith once again paced the way for the lady Mustangs winning four events posting times of 12.40 and 26.34 to win the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while leaps of 17'10 and 36'10 earned her first place in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Sam Vermetten continued her hot start to the track season winning the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run behind times of 1:00.84 and 2:27.40, while Shelby Vermetten took first placed in the discus with a toss of 120'00. Skyler Saunders also claimed another top performance winning the high jump with a leap of 5'04. On the boys side the Mustangs 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams each posted the best time for first place notching times of 3:43.67 and 8:53.79, while Alex Hardin won the 800 meter run behind a time of 2:09.08. 

Five first place performances led Centralia on the day at the Nemaha Central Invite on Tuesday. Four of the five came in the field events as Breanna Schmitz and Dylan Boeckamn each won the pole vault with marks of 9'06 and 12'06, respectively, while Madison Lueger and Josh Hasenkamp each took first in the javelin with tosses of 141'06 and 166'07.50. The lady Panthers 4x400 meter relay team also earned first place after posting a time of 4:26.55. 

Pawnee City enjoyed a strong day led by a pair of event wins by Andrew Davis won with a toss of 145'08 won the discus and behind a time of 55.55 took first in the 400 meter dash. Braden Kobza notched a first place finish in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:54.99, while Mariah Willey earned first in the 100 meter hurdles (15.49) and the girls 4x800 meter relay (11:13.62) took first also. 

Wins in the distance runs led the Axtell Eagles as Olivia Kuckelman won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 5:49.92 and 12:55.27, while Burke Deters recorded a time of 10:39.24 to take first in the 3200 meter run. 

Curtis Bloom leapt his way to the gold in the long jump and triple jump for the Wetmore Cardinals as he posted leaps of 19'02.25 and 40'05.25 to take first. Trenton Rowland added a first place finish for the Cardinals winning the shot put with a toss of 43'11. 

Onaga Buffaloes had one event winner on the day as Belinda Ames took first in the girl’s 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.65.
