Four Area Teams in Action at Royal Valley Track Invite

Tuesday marked a busy day in Northeast Kansas filled with several track meets that involved area teams and an area team in Royal Valley played host to one of those meets on Tuesday with three other area schools in action at the competition. 

Ten different schools in total were in action on the day and the top area team performance came on the girls side as the lady Cobras of Jackson Heights took second place behind St. Marys. Sabetha girls took third place, while Jefferson County North finished sixth and Royal Valley girls placed eighth. In the boys competition JCN led the area performances finishing in third place while Council Grove and Santa Fe Trail tied for first place. Royal Valley boys took fourth, Sabetha placed fifth and Jackson Heights tied for sixth as a team. 

Jackson Heights was led by Faith Little who raced her way to the win in the 800 and 1600 meter runs posting times 2:25.86 and 5:34.67. The lady Cobras also won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:14.87, while Jodi White won the 400 meter dash behind a time of 1:03.98 and Abby Williams leapt to the win in the long jump with a leap of 15'05. Wyatt Olberding snagged the triple jump boys title posting a leap of 43'03.25. 

Four first place finishes led Sabetha on the day with two in the girls action and two in the boys competition. Kinley Schuette raced to the win in the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.16, while the lady Bluejays won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 52.83. Mason Engelken and Eric Renyer won events for the Sabetha boys winning the 300 meter hurdles (41.84) and discus (137'06), respectively. 

Host Royal Valley was led by the performance of Lucas Broxterman who won the high jump and long jump with marks of 6'02 and 20'00, while Kenzie Hegemann won the girls pole vault with vault of 8'06. 

Jefferson County North had their best performances come in the boys action as the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams posted times of 46.03 and 3:39.84 to earn gold and Brayden Summers won the 1600 meter run behind a time of 4:53.51.
