Royal Valley Track Competes at Abilene Invitational

Royal Valley Panthers stepped out of Big Seven competition and out of Northeast Kansas action as they continued their track season on Friday competing at the Abilene Invitational against some top level competition. 

While the girls and boys as teams finished eighth and ninth, respectively out of 11 teams there were plenty of top notch Panther performances with 13 Top five finishers. 

Taylor Russell led the way for the Panthers on the day with a toss of 110'05 to win the girls discus title. While, Mary Broxterman leapt to third place for the lady Panthers in the long jump and took fourth place in the 200 meter dash. Katie Hanshaw and Chloe Richter placed fourth and fifth in the 3200 meter run, while Kylie Moore notched a fifth place finish in the discus. 

For the Panther boys a second place finish in the pole vault by Garrett Hicks led the way at the Abilene Invitational. Panther boy’s 400 sprint medley relay team took home third place, while both Gavin Cumpton and Devon Hale each placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and triple jump, respectively. Fifth place finishes were earned by Brian Shane and Kenny Aitkens in the discus and javelin, respectively. 

Royal Valley is set to continue the track season on Tuesday, April 25th in Big Seven League competition as they are set to compete at the Sabetha Quad.
