Nemaha Central Leads Performances at Home Big Seven Track Quad

On Tuesday the track season continued for Big Seven League schools as part of League action. Nemaha Central played host to a League quad with Holton, Jeff West, Hiawatha and Riverside and it was the Thunder dominating the competition. 

Nemaha Central boys won the team title by over 70 points posting 146.5 total points, while Holton took second by 20 points. Hiawatha, Jeff West and Riverside boys finished out the team standings in third through fifth. On the girls side the lady Thunder won the team title by nearly 50 points amassing 152.5 points, while Jeff West took second. Hiawatha, Holton and Riverside finished third, fourth and fifth as teams. 

Nemaha Central Thunder at their home track was led by 18 individual event wins on the day between the girls and boys. Kaley Dalinghaus and Jacob Koelzer led the Thunder in action as they each won three events. Dalinghaus tossed her way to the gold in the girl’s shot put (41'02), discus (124'03) and javelin (122'09), while Koelzer sprinted to the win in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 10.81 and 23.58 and also won the long jump (20'03.50). Three other Thunder track athletes won individual events also as Allison Rottinghaus leapt to the gold in the girl’s long jump (15'04.50) and triple jump (34'05.50), while Zach Buessing once again swept the boys hurdles competition winning the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.64 and 41.58. Dalton Schmelzle also earned a pair of first place finishes as he won the high jump (5'10) and triple jump (39'02).

For the lady Thunder Laura Macke also won the 100 meter dash, while the 4x100 meter relay (52.96) took first and Dani Mueting won the pole vault (8'06). The Thunder boys also had the 4x100 meter relay (44.78) team take first, along with Jordan Peterson who won the 3200 meter run (11:47.27), Caleb Henry who took first in the pole vault (11'00) and Bryant Stallbaumer who place first in the javelin (137'04). 

Jeff West Tigers were led by the girl’s performances at the League quad in Seneca and Jordan Hawman paced the way as she won the 200 and 400 meter dashes behind times of 27.68 and 1:03.50. Makenzie Tucker and Mariah Murdie also earned first place finishes on the track for Jeff West winning the 800m (2:37.02) and 100m hurdles (16.02), respectively, while the 4x400 meter relay team (4:32.58) earned first place, too. In the boys competition Hunter Williams won the shot put for the Tigers with a toss of 41'02.50.

Elizabeth Kettler of Hiawatha led the Red Hawks performances in Seneca as she won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 5:35.74 and 12:50.74, while the lady Red Hawks 4x800 meter relay (11:06.08) also took first place. Cariann Kunkel with a leap of 5'00 won the girls high jump and in the boys competition the Red Hawks were led by the 4x800 meter relay team who posted a time of 9:45.78 to earn first place. 

Mason Strader continues to perform well for the Holton Wildcats this track season as he won the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:08.36 and 4:39.26, while the boy’s 4x400 meter relay team (3:42.72) also earned first place. Also earning first place finishes for Holton was Courtney Boswell who won the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.87 and Andrew Harrison won the boys discus behind a toss of 137'08. 

Riverside Cyclones were led by Tre'nez Wilkinson won raced his way to first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.52.
