Frankfort Girls Take Second & Hanover Boys Third at Manhattan Track Invite

A quartet of Twin Valley League track teams traveled to Manhattan to compete in track and field action on Thursday. 

The top area team performance came at the hands of the Frankfort Wildcat girls who took second place only behind the host Manhattan. Hanover and Linn girls tied for third and Blue Valley-Randolph placed fifth out of 10 teams. In the boys competition Hanover notched a third place finish behind Manhattan and Wakefield, while Frankfort, Blue Valley and Linn posted finishes of fourth, fifth and sixth out of 11 teams. 

Leading the way for the Frankfort Wildcats on the day was seven individual first place finishes with five of the seven coming in the girl’s competition. Emilee Ebert sprinted to the win in the girls 100 meter dash (13.21), while Grace Dressman won the 100 meter hurdles (18.35) and the girls 4x400 meter relay (53.54) earned the gold, also. In the field events for the lady Wildcats Kennen Brandt and Kaci Vaughn each won events taking first in the pole vault (8'06) and javelin (122'01), respectively. Brodirc Shirley and Rylen Bailey registered top performances in the boy’s competition winning the 1600 meter run (4:42.43) and pole vault (11'06). 

Hanover Wildcats notched 12 individual event wins between the boys and girls at the Manhattan Invite. For the boys Kevin Diederich won the javelin (143'02), while Daiken Stallbaumer took first in the triple jump (38'10.50) and Cade Cohorst finished first in the long jump (18'10). On the track Michael Jueneman sprinted to the win in the 200 meter dash (24.74), while Adam Zarybnicky placed first in the 800 meter run (2:09.62) and the Wildcat 4x800 meter relay (9:00) won, too. Lady Wildcats had Claire Zarybnicky and Macy Doebele each win a pair of events as Zarybnicky won the 400 meter dash (1:04.38) and 800 meter run (2:30.60) and Doebele took first in the long jump (15'11.50) and triple jump (33'04). Hanover girls also earned first place in both the 4x400 (4:24.62) and 4x800 meter relay (11:11.39).

Leading the way for Blue Valley was Georgia Hatesohl has she won the 200 meter dash (27.73) and the 300 meter hurdles (49.22). Katie Huston added a first place finish in the girls 1600 meter run (5:54.44), while Trevor Schwerdt won the boys 400 meter dash (54.87) and Michael Wright earned first in the boys in the discus (129'09). 

Linn Bulldogs had two first place finishers on the day as Shelby Ohlde won the girls high jump (5'04) and Hunter York took first in the girl’s discus (107'09).
