Five Area Baseball Teams in Latest KABC Rankings

The end of the regular season looms and with Regionals in the coming weeks baseball teams are gearing up to make a run in the postseason and earn a bid to State and challenge for a top flight finish. 

Five area teams find themselves in the latest Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches rankings released earlier this week. 

Class 2-1A features a pair of area teams as the Troy Trojans come in ranked #2 in the Top 10 by the KABC and sit at 12-0 on the season and will wrap up the season on Friday, May 5th at Atchison. Troy is looking to get back to State yet again and improve upon their third place finish last year. Valley Falls Dragons are enjoying a strong season also sitting at 13-3 on the year and have wrapped up the regular season and come in ranked #7 in the latest 2-1A rankings. Troy and Valley Falls will be in the same Regional hosted by Doniphan West. 

Class 3A defending State Champion Nemaha Central Thunder find themselves ranked #3 in the latest 3A rankings by the KABC as they sit at 13-3 on the season and earned a share of the Big Seven League title this year with Jeff West. The Thunder will wrap up the regular season Tuesday, May 9th at Marysville and will play at the 3A Regional hosted by Sabetha. 

Jeff West Tigers come in ranked #4 in Class 4A-Division II and sit at 15-1 on the season with the their only loss to Nemaha Central who they split with and share the Big Seven League title with this year. The Tigers wrap up the regular season Wednesday, May 10th versus Silver Lake and then will play Regionals at T-Bone ballpark with Bishop Ward hosting. 

In Class 4A-Division I the Atchison Redmen baseball team is enjoying a strong season sitting at 12-0 on the year entering a matchup with Troy on Friday, May 5th and will wrap up the season May 9th versus Pleasant Ridge. The Redmen rank #9 in the KABC 4A-DI rankings and will host Regionals this year.
