JCN Track Teams Lead Area Performances at Pleasant Ridge Invite

Pleasant Ridge Track Invite Results (5-8-17) - Girls & Boys

Several Northeast Kansas League track squads got in one final competition before the League meet on Thursday, May 11th as Pleasant Ridge hosted a track Invite on Monday. 

In the boys competition Jefferson County North earned first place with 147 points, while the host Pleasant Ridge took second and Christ Prep finished third. Oskaloosa, McLouth, Valley Falls, Lansing, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Immaculata rounded out the boy’s team finishes in fourth through ninth. Christ Prep won the girls team title by 13 points over JCN who took second place, while Immaculata finished third. Mclouth, Lansing, Valley Falls, Pleasant Ridge and Oskaloosa rounded out the girl’s team finishes placing fourth through eighth. 

On the way to first place as a team the JCN boys were led by seven first place finishes on the day with six coming on the track. Logan Budy, Kyle Johnson and Kyle Budy all sprinted to wins in the 100 (11.95), 200 (24.77) and 400 (54.40) meter dashes, while Knox Tweed won the 110 meter hurdles (17.14). Charger boys also won the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 46.02 and 3:42. In the field events Caden McAfee earned the gold for JCN winning the javelin with a toss of 144'07. 

Lady Chargers earned six event wins on the day including the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays posting times of 53.21 and 4:25. Also on the track Annabelle Vaught sprinted to a time of 13.58 to win the 100 meter dash and Kaitlyn Schneider recorded a time of 52.40 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Josie Gerety picked up first place in the javelin after registering a toss of 93'03. 

The host Pleasant Ridge was led by the boys distance runners and a thrower with Luke Oatney leading the charge winning the 800 and 1600 meter runs behind times of 2:06 and 4:53. Clayton Price paced his way to the gold in the 3200 meter run (10:40), while Nick Stivers took first in the discus (116'03). 

Oskaloosa Bears were led by John and Eli Tarwater who won a combined three events. John earned first place in the boy’s 300 meter hurdles (43.86) and high jump (5'08) and Eli won the pole vault (10'06). 

Karli Schmidt and Jordan Sachse led Immaculata Raiders as they won the girls high jump and triple jump crowns with leaps of 5'04 and 31'06, respectively. 

McLouth Bulldogs were led by Dimitri Tullis who won the boys long and triple jumps after posting jumps of 20'01 and 42'11. 

Jachin Drinkard led Valley Falls registering a throw of 40'04 to win the boys shot put. 

The NEKL teams now gear up for the League meet coming up on Thursday, May 11th.
