Thursday was schedule to feature five Northeast Kansas League legion baseball teams in action but ultimately only saw one hit the ball diamond.

The League doubleheaders between Seneca and Corning along with Oskaloosa and Silver Lake both were postponed due to weather. While Sabetha played host to Fairbury in non-league action and earned the 15-14 win. (Oskaloosa at Silver Lake doubleheader has been rescheduled for Thursday July 6th)

Game proved to be a back and forth affair between Sabetha and Fairbury and was a game that featured 26 hits, 16 free passes (11 by Sabetha), five Fairbury wild pitches and two passed balls and eight combined errors. Fairbury took the early lead capitalizing on five hits and a pair of Sabetha errors to score five runs in the first. Sabetha answered by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-5 lead with a two-run single by Brandon Brownlee highlighting the inning.  Fairbury inched closer by scoring two runs in the fourth and wrestled the lead away by scoring four runs in the fifth. Trailing 11-8 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Sabetha plated seven runs to regain the lead at 15-11. Fairbury answered by scoring 3 runs in the top of the 6th but Sabetha ultimately held on for the 15-14 win.

It took four Sabetha pitchers tossing a total of 96 pitches to pull out the victory as Brett Stallbaumer earned the win his second of the season as he threw the final 2.2 innings.  Preston Bruning led the offense recording three hits and the runs scored, while Blake Frey, Joe Gruber and Brownlee each had two hits. Gruber also scored three runs and Brownlee had three RBI's.

The win moves Sabetha to 18-5 on the season.
