Eight Area Volleyball Teams Ranked in Latest KVA Week 1 Rankings

With the volleyball season rolling and teams having logged at least a couple nights of action if not more the Week one set of rankings have been released by the Kansas Volleyball Association and eight area teams find themselves in the polls. 

Leading the charge for the area teams is the Centralia lady Panthers who are off to another spectacular start to a volleyball season sitting at 9-0 after beating a pair of Twin Valley League foes on Tuesday. The Panthers remain #1 in the Class 1A-Division I rankings in the polls this week and started the season by winning the Wabaunsee Invite. Hanover Wildcats remain ranked #3 in Class 1A-DI after a 8-4 start to the season but went just 1-2 on Tuesday against TVL opponents after opening the season with a fifth place finish at the Marysville Invite. 

Class 1A-Division II continues to feature a pair of TVL volleyball teams as Blue Valley-Randolph and Axtell are both in the rankings and just flip spots in the polls this week from where they were in the preseason rankings. The Rams are 2-2 to start the year going 1-1 on Tuesday and come in at #5 up one spot, while Axtell who is 5-5 on the season is down one spot to #6. The Eagles had a 2-0 League night on Tuesday. 

In Class 3A a pair of Big Seven League teams are in the rankings this week. Nemaha Central lady Thunder remain the polls and check in at #7 again after a 9-1 start that includes second place at the Marysville Invite and four Big Seven League wins. While the Royal Valley Panthers jump into the rankings this week at #8 after starting the season 8-4 including placing third at the Jeff West Invite and a pair of Big Seven wins on Tuesday over Riverside. 

Jefferson County North is the only area team in the Class 2A rankings this week as the Chargers sit at 2-1 on the season after beating Oskaloosa on Tuesday in one contest. The Chargers remain ranked #6 in the latest 2A rankings. 

In Class 4A-Division II the Holton Wildcats hold on to the #10 spot in the rankings after a 1-3 start to the season which includes a split with Jeff West on Tuesday in Big Seven action.
