TVL Schools & Jackson Heights Highlight Onaga Cross Country Invite For Area Performances

Area cross country runners and teams were off and running again on Thursday to continue their season and at the Onaga Invitational it was multiple Twin Valley League schools along with Jackson Heights highlighting the area performances. 

The top area team performance came in the boy’s competition as Frankfort took second behind Rock Creek by only two points. Axtell, Jackson Heights and Centralia finished third, fourth and fifth as teams. While the rest of the boys team finishes had St. Mary's, St. Mary's Academy, Valley Heights, Washington County and Onaga sixth through tenth. On the girls side of competition Rock Creek took first with St. Mary's taking second, while Jackson Heights, Frankfort and Onaga finished third, fourth and fifth finishing out the girls team performances. 

The top girl’s time on the day was 22:30.44 and belonged to Axtell Eagle, Olivia Kuckelman who picked up another first place finish this season winning by nearly 45 seconds. Fellow Eagle, Jordyn Smith registered a seventh place finish posting a time of 24:09.33. Axtell boys were led by Quinn Buessing who placed third behind a time of 18:46.34, while Simon Schmitz earned 15th place and Blake Porting ran to 19th place. 

Nearly 50 seconds separated the top boy’s time from second place on the day as Frankfort Wildcat, Brodric Shirley set the pace and posted a time of 17:14.35 to win the Onaga Invitational. His teammate Colton Parthemer was not far behind finishing fourth with a time of 18:56.61, while Brandon Anderson earned 11th place. Amburley Kokoruda led the lady Wildcats racing to a 19th place finish. 

Five Jackson Heights Cobras came away with Top 20 finishes on the day at the Onaga Invitational with a ninth and tenth place finish in the girl’s race leading the charge. Hanna Davault placed ninth behind a time of 24:16.04, while Shelby Phillips earned tenth place with a time of 24:26.80. In the boy’s action Dalton Chartier placed 13th, while Drew Holliday raced to 16th place and Xavier Fritz earned 20th place. 

Wetmore Cardinals were led by Alena Pfrang who placed second in the girl’s competition racing to a time of 23:15.14, while in the boys competition Jonathan Hladky-Bailey finished 12th. 

Leading the Valley Heights Mustangs was Alex Hardin who earned fifth place in the boys action with a time of 19:00.83 and Abby Lister in the girls race finished 18th on the day. 

Centralia Panthers were led by Devon Feldkamp who raced to ninth place with a time of 19:22.55 in the boy’s action, while Dylan Boeckman finished 14th. 

Onaga, Clifton-Clyde and Washington County all also had runners in action on the day.
