Four Area Cross Country Teams in Latest Rankings & Others Receiving Votes

The high school cross country season is off an running and there has been plenty of great performances all around Northeast Kansas by teams and individuals. The Kansas Cross Country Coaches have released their second set of rankings this year and four area teams are ranked in the Top seven of their class with a few others getting votes. 

Leading the rankings for area teams are the Frankfort Wildcat boys who rank #2 in Class 1A polls. Wildcats most recently took second at the Onaga Invite as a team only two points off of first place and were led by a trio of Top 15 performances including Brodric Shirley who won the boys race. The Axtell boys are just one vote outside of the Top seven in 1A as they are receiving votes. 

On the girls side of the 1A rankings the Centralia girls come in at #6 in the polls. The Panthers have had multiple strong Top 20 finishes through the first few meets of the season. Frankfort girls are receiving votes also in the polls. 

The other two area teams in the latest cross country rankings are both in Class 3A and both ranked #4. The Hiawatha girls come in at #4 in the latest polls are off to great start this season including a first place finish at their home meet as a team as six girls finished in the Top 20. Elizabeth Kettler led the lady Red Hawks finishing in first place at the meet. The Perry Lecompton girls are receiving votes in the 3A polls. 

On the boys side of the 3A rankings the Pleasant Ridge Rams come in at #4. Ram boys finished third at the Mclouth Invitational recently and were led by a trio of Top 15 finishes including Luke Oatney who took second place. Sabetha Bluejay boys are getting attention in the rankings as they are receiving votes in the 3A polls. 

Class 2A as the Jackson Heights boys and Valley Heights girls both receiving votes in the latest rankings.
