Tuesday night was packed with League volleyball action all around Northeast Kansas and in the Twin Valley League Doniphan West played host to Frankfort and Onaga for TVL play. The Wildcats pounced on a pair of League wins claiming two straight set victories over Onaga and Doniphan West, while the Mustangs won a tough three set contest against the Buffaloes to cap the night.

The night started off with the two visiting teams facing off on the court and after a tight start to the first set Frankfort worked to an 8-4 lead with an ace from Trinity Koch and then got up 15-5 when Onaga called a timeout. The set was 5-4 Frankfort early on and at the time of the timeout the Wildcats were on a 10-1 run. Frankfort used that run to push themselves to the set one win 25-12 over Onaga. Set two had Frankfort up 7-4 but Onaga rattled off three straight to tie the contest at 7-7. After an 8-8 tie the Wildcats put together a 5-0 run to lead 13-8 leading to an Onaga timeout and the Wildcats didn't look back from that point on going on to claim set two 25-18 taking the match. Kennen Brandt help set the tone early for Frankfort, while Ebert recorded multiple kills and Grace Dressman and some solid plays. For Onaga the play of Belinda Ames, Morgan Mayginnes and Morghan Owens helped led the Buffaloes.

In the second matchup of the night Frankfort took on Doniphan West and a pair of Rebecca Adams aces early gave the Wildcats a 9-2 set one lead and that lead grew fast leading 20-9. Doniphan West managed a late 4-0 run in the set before Frankfort closed it out to take in 25-14 on a let serve from the Mustangs. Set two saw Frankfort double up Doniphan West early leading 10-5 and going on to establish a 21-10 lead when the Mustangs called a timeout but out of the timeout Frankfort put the final stamp on their night with a 4-0 run to take set two 25-10 and win the match in straight sets. Frankfort in the win had Ebert record multiple kills, while Caroline Ahlvers had some strong digs and Doniphan West in the loss got solid play from Brooklyn Rush in the back row, while Shayna Wilson played well upfront.

The night cap was a three set affair just like the first time that Doniphan West and Onaga meet up this season and the Mustangs took the win for their first TVL win of the season. Doniphan West worked to an early 9-5 lead with Onaga called an early timeout that lead grew to 16-8 but Onaga would dwindle the lead down to five multiple times only to see the Mustangs push back and extend the lead again. A pair of Rush aces late in the set sealed the first set for Doniphan West 25-13. Set two saw a strong start for Onaga with a 4-0 run with Mayginnes helping lead the way and the Buffaloes pushed their lead up to as many as eight but Doniphan West galloped back into the set tying it at 15-15 and then taking their first lead of the set at 16-15. The two teams would be tied two more times down the stretch of the set but Onaga went up 21-20 and held off Doniphan West to take the second set 25-23 on a let serve by the Mustangs. That forced a third and final set and behind a solid start to the set Doniphan West led 13-8 when Onaga called a timeout and the deficit proved to be too much for Onaga to overcome in the final set as Doniphan West took the set 25-20 with Wilson coming up with multiple clutch plays in the middle. Both Heidi Leach and Makinley Smith had strong plays for the Mustangs in the win, while Onaga was led by Ames and Mayginnes, along with Chloe Fischer.

The 2-0 night for Frankfort moved the Wildcats to 11-3 on the season and 8-1 in TVL action, while Doniphan West is now 2-15 overall and 1-7 in the TVL. Onaga is still in search of their first win of the season sitting at 0-17 and 0-8 in the TVL.

The season continues on Thursday, September 21st for Doniphan West against Riverside, while Frankfort will compete at the Axtell Invite on Saturday, September 23rd and Onaga hits the court again at the Frankfort Triangular next Tuesday, September 26th.
