Frankfort Girls & Boys Win Twin Valley League Cross Country Titles

League cross country meets are always competitive and that it was in several ways in the Twin Valley League on Thursday. 

The top team spots and League titles on both the girls and boys sides belong to the Frankfort Wildcats. The lady Wildcats beat out Centralia by two points for the League title as a team while Onaga took third, as only three girls teams had enough runners for a full team in the TVL. On the boys side six schools field full teams and Frankfort earned the League title by 11 points over Axtell who finished second; it marks the third-straight year that the Frankfort boys have won the TVL cross country team title. Centralia, Washington County, Valley Heights and Troy finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively in the boys team standings. 

Leading the Frankfort Wildcats on the day was the performance of Brodric Shirley who won the individual boys League title by 52 seconds. Colton Parthemer and Brandon Anderson joined him in the Top 10 finishing third (18:01.09) and fifth (18:13.43), while Garrett Dalinghaus earned 16th place. Lady Wildcats were led by Tori Keller who finished seventh behind a time of 24:52.97, while Amburley Kokoruda placed 12th, Lauryn Stewart posted a finish of 14th and Maggie Armstrong finished 17th. 

The top girl’s time belonged to Axtell as Olivia Kuckelman cruised to a time of 20:44.44 to win the TVL title by over two minutes and win it for the second straight year. Also in action in the girls race for Axtell was Jordyn Smith who raced to fifth place (24:35.25) finish. In the boys action a pair of Eagles finished in the Top 10 as Quinn Buessing placed fourth with a time of 18:09.14 and Simon Schmitz finished eighth with a time of 18:48.24. Blake Porting and Mitchell Buessing earned 11th and 13th place finishes for the Eagles. 

Seven Centralia Panther runners earned Top 20 finishes on the day at the TVL competition. Leading the way for the lady Panthers was Emma Holthaus who with a time of 23:25.41 earned fourth place, while Emiley Weyer earned eighth place (25:04.46) and Kendall Durland placed 13th. The boys race saw Dylan Boeckman earn sixth place with a time of 18:14.24, while Devon Feldkamp placed tenth (19:05.78). Ransom Engelken and Federico D'Ambrosio each earned Top 20 finishes placing 12th and 14th. 

Wetmore Cardinals were led by the second best time in the girls race as Alena Pfrang posted a time of 22:49.00 to earn the silver, while McKayla Henry placed tenth (25:23.50). On the boys side of action Jonathan Hlady-Bailey earned ninth place (18:52.69) and Austin Smith placed 15th. 

Valley Heights Mustangs had a duo finish in the Top three on the day as Alex Hardin raced to the second fastest time in the boy’s competition (17:54.75) and Abby Lister earned third place in the girl’s action (23:25.41). 

Washington County had five Top 20 finishes on the day with four coming in the boy’s race. Tyler Simmons led the Tigers placing seventh with a time of 18:16.28, while Tray Zabokrtsky placed 17th, Luke Gauby finished 18th and Kobe Hoover finished 20th. In the girls competition Emily Meyer posted a 16th place finish for Washington County. 

Onaga Buffaloes were led by Halie Jeannerret who with a time of 25:05.15 placed ninth in the girl’s race, while her teammates Belinda Ames and Alexus Jeannerret placed 15th and 19th. In the boys action Quinton Norris earned a 19th place finish for Onaga. 

Alyssa Brown led Clifton-Clyde at the TVL meet placing sixth with a time of 24:49.03 in the girls race, while her teammate Haley Hollon finished 20th. 

Troy Trojans were led by Holly Williams and Kyla Reel who finished 11th and 18th, respectively.
