2017 KCAL Cross Country Meet Results (10-12-17) - Girls & Boys

Atchison Redmen cross country team continued their season in the KCAL meet on Thursday and performed quite well as the lady Red took first place as a team and the boys earned second place. 

On the way to first place as a team for the girls a trio of runners finished in the Top five as Emily Jaloma, Adalynn Collins and Teagan Hanson placed second, third and fourth. A time of 21:57 earned second for Jaloma, while Collins posted a time of 23:09 and Hanson with a time of 24:39 took fourth. Talia Rawls also finished in the Top 10 placing eighth with a time of 26:49, Emily Tull finished 14th. 

The Redmen boys took second by only four points behind Wyandotte who won the team title. Leading the Atchison boys was Matthew Sowers who placed third with a time of 18:41, while Brennan Wheatley placed sixth (19:26) and Jayden Watkins took seventh (19:27). Freshman, Canyon Fry raced to tenth place with a time fo 20:43. Xhander Gilliland finished 20th, Gabe Powell placed 22nd and Payden Brunton finished 38th. 

Atchison now turns their attention to 4A Regionals as they will compete for the opportunity to go to State as they are set to run at the Lansing Regional on Saturday, October 17th.
