Jackson Heights Cross Country Invite Results (10-18-17) - Girls & Boys

In one final tune-up before Regionals this Saturday (October 21st) a few area cross country teams competed at the Jackson Heights Invitational on Tuesday. 

At the end of the day the Jackson Heights girls and boys added some hardware to the trophy case both winning the team titles at their home meet. The lady Cobras took first place over the two other girls teams as Jefferson County North earned second and Onaga finished third. On the boys side six schools fielded teams the Cobras won by 34 points while JCN took second and Nemaha Central finished third. Cornerstone, Horton and Troy finished out the team scores in fourth, fifth and sixth. 

Leading the charge for Jackson Heights was Faith Little who posted a time of 20:50.53 to take first place. Her teammates Hanna Davult and Shelby Phillips notched times of 22:41.28 and 23:11.09 to take fourth and fifth, while Skyla Howe placed 10th with a time of 25:26.97 and Trinity McMahon and Jill Buck placed 12th and 16th. Leading the Cobra boys were four Top 10 finishes as Dalton Chartier earned fourth (18:59.66), Drew Holliday placed fifth (19:11.00), Xavier Fritz took sixth (19:31.28), while AJ Mock finished ninth (19:30.56). Kolten Brenner nabbed an 11th place finish for the Cobra boys. 

JCN Chargers had the top finisher in the boy’s race as a time of 18:03.25 earned Trevor Pentlin frist place by nearly 15 seconds. Logan Baker raced to tenth place for the JCN boys posting a time of 19:34.84. Dylan Wendling and Klayton Thompson posted 16th and 20th place finishes. Leading the lady Chargers was Rose Wendling who behind a time of 24:03.94 earned sixth place, while Gretchen Babcock finished with a time of 25:21.03 to place ninth. Amber Bertels and Faith Kramer ran to finishes of 15th and 20th place. 

Riverside Cyclone Matthew Kline put together a strong performance with a time of 18:18.18 earning second place in the boy’s race. While Horton Chargers were led by Skye Joe Coversup who ran to a time of 18:31.09 to earn third place in the boys competition. 

A trio of Nemaha Central Thunder boys runners nabbed Top 20 finishes including a seventh place finish with a time of 19:18.25 Roland Voracek earned that place. Dominic Hammes placed 15th and Jordan Peterson notched 18th place. Lady Thunder had Jessie Deters finish 19th. 

Onaga Buffaloes were led by Halie Jeanneret on the day as she posted a time of 25:00.88 to earn eighth in the girls race. Belinda Ames placed 13th for the lady Buffs, while Morgan Owens finished 18th. In the boys race Quinton Norris registered a 19th place finish for Onaga. 

Two Valley Falls Dragon boys finished in the Top 20 as Nathan Pickerell and Dallas Clark finished 12th and 13th. 

Troy Trojans were led by Holly Williams who placed 11th on the day in the girl’s race, while Kyla Reel finished 14th.
