Hiawatha Girls 3A Team State Title Leads Area Cross Country State Performances (Full Results)

Full State Cross Country Results - 4A, 2A & 1A   3A (5A & 6A)

For one final time this season area cross country runners were in competition competing at the State meet. Class 4A, 2A and 1A all were in action in Wamego at the Country Club, while Class 3A competed alongside 5A & 6A in Lawrence at Rim Rock. 

Leading the area performances were the Hiawatha girl’s team in Class 3A as they claimed the school’s first ever State title winning the 3A meet led by four Top 30 runners. A total of 11 runners from the area finished in the Top 30 in 3A. 

In 2A four area runners grabbed Top 30 finishes, while in 4A a pair of area runners notched Top 30 finishes. Ten area runners raced to Top 30 finishes in Class 1A. 

Class 1A was full of area runners with a fourth place team finish by the Frankfort boys leading the way. 

Class 3A

Behind 67 total points the Hiawatha lady Red Hawks cross country team raced to the Class 3A State title as a team to capture the school’s first team State title winning the meet up 11 points. 

Hiawatha girls were led by Elizabeth Kettler who placed 10th behind a time of 20:48.47, while Kate Madsen took 14th (20:54.87). Mary Rosa and Jasmine Morey raced to Top 30 finishes notching 21st (21:07.91) and 30th (21:41.88) place finishes. Emma Williams, Madison Gilbert and Nicole Stueve were also in action for Hiawatha posting finishes of 42nd, 79th and 85th places. The Red Hawk boys earned sixth place as a team at State and were led by Justin Hodge who finished fifth with a time of 16:39.42. Six other guys ran for Hiawatha as Parker Winters finished 44th, Andrew Lierz 51st, Liam Jones 60th, Christian Shaffer 67th, Taylor Hughes 73rd and Gabe Corbett 88th. 

Sabetha Bluejays had their girls and boys teams in action at State finishing eighth and 12th place as team, respectively. Bluejay girls were led by Haddie Luckert who raced to 16th place posting a time of 20:58.13. Other Sabetha girls in action included: Megan Meyer (38th), Skylar McAfee (47th), Kenzie Meyer (67th), Madison Cochran (89th), Ellen Gylnn (93rd) and Karrington Payne (103rd). For the Sabetha boys Kaden Dillon led the way finishing 30th with a time of 17:51.56. While, Henry Gylnn finished 32nd, Micah Romines 75th, Charles Bestwick 80th, Braden Menold 87th, Darrin Funk 94th and Jesse Burger 104th. 

Pleasant Ridge had two guys compete at State with Luke Oatney pacing the way earning eighth place at State behind a time of 17:00.95, while Dayton Flack finished 38th. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy Raven, Ayden Black earned 15th place in the boy’s race with a time of 17:14.14. 

For the Mclouth Bulldogs, Baylee Wolfe raced to a 20th place finish in the girl’s race with a time of 21:02.42, while Ceara Funk placed 66th. 

Royal Valley had a pair of runners in action at State as Nue Tinajero placed 52nd and Katie Hanshaw raced to 59th place. 

ACCHS and Perry Lecompton each had a runner compete as Victoria Caplinger placed 29th (21:38.66) for the Tigers and Josh Mitts took 36th for the Kaws. 

Class 1A

The Twin Valley League was well represented at the Class 1A State cross country meet in Wamego and had some strong performances from the area runners. 

Leading the way were the Frankfort Wildcat boys who placed fourth as a team and were led by a second place individual finisher in Brodric Shirley who posted a time of 17:02.2 to earn second place. Brandon Anderson raced to 23rd place with a time of 18:29.7, while Colton Parthemer placed 32nd. Cody Evans, Garret Dalinghaus, Daniel Dowd and Jaron Thomas were also in action placing 60th, 66th, 75th and 81st, respectively. The lady Wildcats finished 10th as a team as Amburley Kokoruda placed 46th, Vicotria Keller 47th, Lauryn Stewart 67th, Maggie Armstrong 72nd, Clara Dressman 75th and Hattie Polson 81st. 

Axtell Eagles had some strong performances at State in both the girls and boys races. Olivia Kuckelman behind a time of 21:23.6 earned fifth place in the girls race, while her teammate Jordyn Smith placed 15th with a time of 22:39.6. In the boys race the Eagles earned sixth place as a team and were led by Quinn Buessing who finished 11th (18:05.2). Simon Schmitz raced to 26th place (18:34.8), while Blake Porting and Mitchell Buessing earned 42nd and 71st place finishes. 

Both the Centralia boys and girls competed as teams at State as the Panthers finished seventh and 11th as teams, respectively. Dylan Boeckman led the Centralia boys placing 25th with a time of 18:32.4. Also in action for the Panther boys were: Devin Feldkamp (39th), Ransom Engelken (43rd), Federico D'Amrosio (69th), Guillaume Chardin (84th), Matthew Stallbaumer (90th) and Kade Olberding (91st). For the lady Panthers Emma Holthaus posted a time of 23:31.5 to finish 28th, while Emily Weyer, Kendall Durland and Courtney Huerter posted finishes of 53rd, 77th and 84th. 

Wetmore Cardinals had a duo in action as Alena Pfrang and Jonathan Hladky-Bailey both raced. Pfrang posted a time fo 22:51.1 to earn herself 18th place, while Hladky-Bailey notched a 44th place finish in the boys race. 

Washington County Tiger, Tyler Simmons was also in action and placed 18th with a time of 18:15.8.

Class 2A

Class 2A State competition was in action in Wamego and five area runners competed between the boys and girls race. 

Valley Heights Mustang, Alex Hardin raced to a time of 17:53.0 to earn 11th place in the boys race, while Jefferson County North Charger, Trevor Pentlin notched a time of 18:02.9 to place 15th. 

In the girls race a trio of Jackson Heights Cobras were in action as Faith Little recorded a 21st place finish (21:47.1), Hana Davault placed 27th (23:30.9) and Shelby Phillips finished 34th. 

Class 4A

Only four area runners qualified for State in Class 4A and competed in Wamego at the State meet. 

Leading Atchison was Emily Jaloma as she posted a time of 21:08.8 to finish 28th in the girls competition, while her teammate Adalynn Collins placed 30th with a time of 21:09.4. In the boys race Matthew Sowers placed 60th for the Redmen. 

Marysville Bulldog, Davis Lee was the lone other area runner in action in Class 4A and he placed 88th on the day.
