Royal Valley Wrestlers Open Season at Burlington Duals Taking Sixth Place

The Royal Valley Panther wrestlers took to the mats for the first time this season competing at the Burlington Wildcat Duals and finished sixth to of ten teams. 

Royal Valley got the action rolling with a tough battle against Blue Valley North falling by one-point in the dual 37-36 as the Panthers registered three wins in the matches wrestled. The first win of the day for the Panthers as team came against Garden Plain as Royal Valley captured the dual with a 46-36 score, recording six match wins in the bout. Next up the Panthers took down Eureka 48-30 with five wins in matches wrestled. Royal Valley squared off with host Burlington and the Panthers fell 54-24 in the dual. In the final dual of the day Royal Valley did battle with Washburn Rural for fifth place and the Panthers took sixth place on the day falling to Washburn Rural 48-30 in the dual. The Panthers as a team posted a 2-3 day in five duals. 

Leading the way for the Panthers at the Burlington Duals was a 4-1 performance by Nate Buchtel at 220lbs. Butchel recorded all four of wins by pinfall with his fastest pinfall coming in just 16 seconds against Eureka grappler, while also winning 42 seconds, 1:30 and 5:14 on the day. Bryce Garrison at 160lbs registered a 3-1 day in matches wrestled winning by pinfall each time in 3:14, 3:26 and 5:13. Five other Panther grapplers finished the day with a pair of wins as Dalton Ware (120lbs), Caleb McEntire (126lbs), Brett House (138lbs), Zach Burger (182lbs) and Brian Shane (285lbs) all won two bouts. Karsen Smith (152lbs) also recorded a win on the day. 

Royal Valley is set to continue their wrestling season at home with a double dual on Tuesday, December 5th.
