Onaga Wrestlers Open Season at Darrell Schmeidler Invite in Lincoln

The Onaga Buffalo wrestlers opened up the 2017-18 season by competing on the mats at the Darell Schmeidler Invite in Lincoln, Kansas. 

Seven total teams in action the Buffaloes placed sixth as a team only three points out of fifth place. Dodge City won the tournament. 

Five grapplers were in action for the Buffaloes and three of the five finished second or better in their weight class on the day of competition at Lincoln. Leading the way Kyler Schmidt who posted a 3-0 performance at 182lbs to earn first place. Schmidt picked up three pinfall victories winning in 30 seconds, 2:20 and 4:52.

Both Morgan Mayginnes and Kedric Ames each finished second place at their respective weight classes of 138lbs and 160lbs. Mayginnes went 2-1 and won by pinfall in each of her wins coming in 2:58 and 4:34, while Ames recorded a 3-1 day on the mats wining by pinfall three times 1:01, 1:02 and 1:21 and loss a tight 9-7 decision. 

Vincent Lara competed at 285lbs and placing eighth with a 1-4 performance on the mats, snagging his lone win by pinfall in 3:39. While Trenton Cott went 0-2 in action at 170lbs for Onaga. 

Onaga takes to the mats again on Thursday, December 7th when they host a double dual.
