Riverside Wrestlers Win Onaga Invite Leading Area Performances

It was an action packed Saturday in Onaga with several area wrestling squads in action and several top flight performances by area grapplers. 

Leading the way on the day was Riverside Cyclones as they recorded 147.5 points to win the Onaga Invitational team title winning by 10 points. Other area team finishes included Oskaloosa in sixth, Doniphan West in eighth, Marysville ninth, ACCHS tenth, Maur Hill-Mount Academy 12th, Onaga 13th and Jeff West tied for 16th. 

On the way to first place as a team Riverside had five guys take first place individually in their weight classes. Scott Resler recorded a 5-0 day on the mats at 145lbs to take first place as he registered four pinfall wins and won in the Championship bout by technical fall 22-3. Kinstin Juhl like Resler went 5-0 on the day as Juhl at 152lbs won by pinfall four times including in 3:59 in the Championship bout and also registered a 14-12 decision win.  Luke Horn (138lbs), Brayden Seimears (160lbs) and Jacob MacKnight (195lbs) all went 4-0 to win their respective weight classes. Horn had three pinfall wins and a win via technical fall, while Seimears recorded a pinfall win and three victories by decision. MacKnight won all four of his bouts by pinfall for the Cyclones. Second place was earned by both Beau Horn (126lbs) and Derrick Karn (132lbs) who went 4-1 in action, while Austin Hawkins (113lbs) placed fifth on the day. 

Oskaloosa had five Top five finishes on the day at Onaga with a first place finish at 182lbs by Jared Miller leading the way as he went 5-0 winning the Championship bout by 5-2 decision, while also recording three pinfall wins and a 4-1 decision. Christopher King (220lbs) went 3-2 and took second place, while a 3-2 performance earned Eli King (170lbs) third place. Colby Peck (195lbs) and Hatfield Lucas (138lbs) recorded fourth and fifth place finishes. 

Doniphan West Mustangs were led by a pair of second place finishes on the day as Zeb Speer (170lbs) and Norman Miller (285lbs) each went 4-1 in action on the mats to earn sceond place. Rodger Groves at 120lbs went 3-2 to take third place, while Houston Idol (113lbs) went 3-2 to place fourth. 

A pair of second place finishes led Marysville on the day as Noah Ackerman (152lbs) and Matt Lindhorst (182lbs) went 4-1 and 3-2, respectively to place second. A 3-2 day on the mats by Joey Bockin (126lbs) earned him fourth place. 

Four Top five finishes led ACCHS at the Onaga Invite. A 4-1 performance at 120lbs gave Colton Scholz second place, while Brodie Page at 113lbs also went 4-1 and earned third place. Makaea Forbes (195lbs) and Ryan Hanshaw (220lbs) each put together a strong day to place fifth. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy was led by a third place finish from Conner Wilson who at 152lbs went 4-1 on the mats. Both Dylan Smith (145lbs) and Benedict Humburg (160lbs) earned fifth place for the Ravens at the Onaga Invite. 

A pair of fifth place finishes led the host Onaga Buffaloes as Kedric Ames (152lbs) and Kylar Schmidt (182lbs) both snagged fifth place finishes.
