Holton Wildcat Wrestlers Claim First Place at Ottawa Duals

Holton Wildcat wrestlers notched another great performance under their belt this season bring home first place hardware from the Ottawa Duals. 

The Wildcats captured the Ottawa Duals title ultimately going 5-0 on the day. The action started for Holton with pool play as they took on Eudora and Highland Park on the mats. Holton dominated the match against Highland Park claiming a 60-21 dual win and then topped Eudora 43-36 to win Pool D and Advance to the Championship pool. Baldwin, Bonner Springs and Anderson County also advance out of their respective pools to the Championship pool. 

Wildcats faced all three teams in the Championship pool and started off by winning 43-33 over Anderson County. Holton followed that up by beating Baldwin 48-31 and then finished the tournament with a dominating win over Bonner Springs 63-18 to win the Ottawa Duals tournament. 

A pair of 4-0 performances over the course of the day led Holton at the Ottawa Duals as Jake Barnes and Lawson Henry each recorded a 4-0 performance at 106lbs and 138lbs, respectively. Barnes earned four pinfall wins in 39 seconds, 1:49, 3:08 and 5:20, while Henry notched three wins by pinfall (1:05, 1:28, 4:20) and also picked a 15-2 major decision win. 

Both Taygen Fletcher (120lbs) and Kolby Roush (126lbs) each had 3-0 days on the mats for Holton. Fletcher won a 6-4 decision, also got a 4-3 tie-breaker win and pinfall win in 1:21, while Roush won by pinfall three times all in under a minute (41, 35, 27 seconds). Kyler Tannahill at 285lbs also won all his matches wrestled on the day going 2-0 recording pinfall wins in 39 and 25 seconds. 

Cael Jackson (152lbs) and Dylan Aeschliman (170lbs) each posted 4-1 days on the mats competing in all five duals for Holton. Jackson earned three wins by pinfall (:37, :55, 5:05) and also a 10-5 decision, while Aeschliman secured four pinfall wins in 1:40, 1:48, 2:33 and 55 seconds. 

Konnor Tannahill (182lbs) and Killian O'Connor (195lbs) both went 2-1 on the mats at the Ottawa Duals, while Austin Rollett (220lbs) and Conner Gilliland (132lbs) each recorded one win at the tournament. 

Holton will compete one final time before the holiday break when they host Spring Hill for a dual on Thursday, December 21st.
